Quote by the manager at Dave & Busters

Although I'd rather play in pool rooms than an arcade/game room like Dave & Busters, after several friends said they like it there I decided to give it a try and went there. When I inquired why there is only one bridge in a place with over 10 tables the manager said to me, "our customers are good, they don't need a bridge", LOL. Needless to say I haven't been back!!

At least he didn't call it a "ladies helper".

Dave and Buster's

That is pretty funny what the manager said. I have never heard of an actual PLAYER that hung out and practiced at one of these establishments. I bet I could beat 99.9% of the players at any Dave and Buster's shooting EVERY shot with the bridge.

I always remembered Willie's quote from his book.

When in doubt, use the mechanical bridge. ~~ Willie Mosconi

Dave and Buster's is about making money, they have a dress code, cater to people willing to pay for the experence, and are a family enviorment. NOT a Pool Room.

There were some new Gold Crowns on Craigslist a few weeks ago that came out of a Dave and Busters. They looked nice, but that should tell you something.

That's like saying snooker players that use a bridge are considered "c" players ?!!! LOL. Consider the source and the level of intelligence about pool.

There's something downright un-American about an establishment with pool tables making a profit and continuing in business.

Take a slip-on moosehead bridge with you. Problem solved.

I agree, bring your own moosehead bridge. Unless it's a poolhall, catering to players with no marring bridges or take the time to sand down the edges, you wouldn't want to be risking your shaft. Also bring your own chalk, as a piece of Masters may make the difference between productive play. Otherwise, you may as just be whacking the balls around, like the rest of their customers.

You didn't go back because of someone saying something a bit stupid?....there can't be many places you have left to go?

He was probably kidding and had no real answer to the question anyway. Having said that, I have probably in my 50+ years of playing pool have played in a 1000 rooms and I can't tell you how many if they didn't have bridges for every table, had bridges that were completely worthless. Cast metal bridge heads with edges that scratched up you shaft.

Most have just old house cues turned into bridges that are too short as well as too heavy to work effectively as a bridge. It was not really that uncommon to see bridges hanging on the wall for the use of maybe three tables.

I would bet there is someone reading this right now that plays in a room with worthless bridges like that. So bottom line is, most pool room owners could care less about what kind of bridge they provide. It has come down to if you are in any way a serious player you need to bring your own equipment. Not just your cue but chalk. bridge, hand towel and anything else you feel you need.

Don't expect the room to provide anything of any quality. Almost every time I get a table they hand me worn out chalk like they are preserving the good stuff for as long as they can. Of course I have my own chalk buy they don't know that. Oh, and if you should have the nerve to ask for a newer piece, they give you a look like they resent having to part with it.

This guy at the Dave & Busters is not that unusual as far as people running pool rooms.

By the way these posts are going I can tell ppl just don't know about the badass D&B pool circuit. Some of those places are just downright cutthroat. And whatever you do don't play that guy Fat Tony for cheeseburgers. He will wipe the floor with you. :rotflmao1:

Not only can they beat everyone in town, they can do it ambidextrously.
