What a loss – truly a sad day for pool.
When I see people post questions on the forum like "what's the problem with pool" or "why isn't it pool more popular", I think of all the reasons why these things are true. After some reflection today, one of those reasons is there aren't enough folks like George Fels...folks who speak intelligently and eloquently about the game, who love it solely for the beautiful game it is, who navigate the sport with a kind and generous demeanor to anyone they meet. Imagine the change in what pool is today, if more of the things George exhibited were consistently seen and associated with game.
I didn't know George, but I did meet him once several years ago at one of the recent World 14.1 tournaments. It was great - you could tell how much he loved the game. It was a pleasure to speak with him even if it was only for a few minutes.
Sincerest condolences to all of his family and friends - there are surely many of you out there tonight feeling a great loss.
