Ray has one of the sharpest minds in pool, with a keen sense of humor to boot. No accident he is in the HOF. It's a treat every time Ghostball posts on here. We should feel honored. Ray is a humble but proud man, who made it to the top of this profession. He faced formidable opposition too. Try a diet of Ed Kelly, Jack Breit, Johnny Ervolino, Larry Johnson, Steve Mizerak, Danny Diliberto, Lou Butera, Ronnie Allen, Richie Florence, Jim Rempe, Larry Lisciotti, Pete Margo, Nick Varner, Jimmy Fusco, Dallas West, IRVING CRANE, JOE BALSIS and LUTHER LASSITER! These are only some of the men he had to beat to win his championships. I'm leaving out a lot of other good ones too.

I took a lesson from Ray at his home in Florida in the spring of 2002. Specifically we worked on my break. He is thorough, no nonsense and understands the dynamics of how the body moves in relationship to velocity, angle...one of the best hours I've ever spent and will always be greatful for the experience.
I have a phone number here, but I don't know if it is current.does anyone know if he is still giving lessions if so where, and how to contact him
Good point, pt109. Actually the San Fernando (near L.A.) earthquake hit at 6 A.M. on 2-9-71, so the guys weren't playing any matches at that time. But Ray had been well established as a "cool cat" by then. He won the world title that year, then again in 1974 and 1978. He still plays strong in his early 70's.You left out the most formidable.
The earthquake..and i don't mean Keith.
He actually won a title while the ground was shaking, which is where
he earned the name Cool Cat.
