REFUND DEMANDED for Archer vs. Strickland match!

It worked at Woodstock

For me the big question is this: could the powers that be have cut their losses and just put it up for free going forward and had a watchable stream for everyone?

I keep hearing that it worked fine until they charged. If they would have played a watchable stream they wouldn't have owed any refunds IMO. Did they get greedy and try to keep it pay only in hopes of getting more paying customers?

If so they should have taken Jcin's lead from TAR. When Jcin couldn't get the new paying customers logged in he QUICKLY turned it to a free stream so everyone could watch day three of the epic Earl Vs SVB match.

This should have been handled like they did at Woodstock, lol. Make it free today for all. I guarantee no billiard production company has ever done that. Oh wait, TAR just did..

How can your "blood be boiling?" You might need some therapy if a stream makes your blood boil.

Really? Is it that difficult for you to understand? Many have been looking forward to this match since it was 1'st discussed. You pay $25, block out a weekend, and you spend more time looking at a frozen or black screen than you do the match that you paid for.

While this is happening Mike (Miketv) is getting multiple email re: the situation and he never has anyone address this on the stream.
No, I understand there are some problems with the stream, we are looking inti it to see what the problem is, please be patient. Nothing, instead his response is , "it's okay here".

Not only did he never show concern but completely failed to even acknowledge or address the issue, as if avoiding it will make it go away.

You really don't understand how this situation can make someone's blood boil?

I don't need therapy, but it seems like you may need a lesson in common sense and empathy.

he is still convinced in his mind that he has nothing to do with it, when you ask mike "if I buy your stream, will it be running smooth?" Basicaly he can't answer that, because he's only in charge of selling it, but thats all, whatever problem that might happen, he'd say its not from his end, either ustream, or flash bug, or whatever. he can't understand that even though it might be true that ustream are in false, but it still is your problem since your responsible of selling out that product, ergo you have to deliver, or you will be the guy who will get the blame, Study whatever you want to sell, to make good product and then a good name, right now you are going toward the wrong path.

Great post, mark c said he will make sure its handle right,so it is in good hands now!

Charlie Sheen watches bad blood, no way!

The pool community isn't exactly Hollywood or some big corn production studio, take it easy on the guys.

At least suggest what can be done so this situation can be worked out better if there is a next time, this way the post is not just flaming.

(When you say blood boil you mean cause its tiger blood right)

You can find 'sympathy' between 'shit' and 'syphilis' in the dictionary. You sound like a cry baby. Next time you wanna see a match, either fly to the venue or setup your own stream. See how ya like that action one time.

If you're referring to the post about the slight revision change, I never said he was traveling without a laptop. I have no knowledge if he is or isn't. But please be careful when writing that someone said this or that, if you're not sure, or at least go back and verify the thread to make sure what you think they said and what they said is accurate:)

Slight revision of format for "Bad Blood Match - 04-01-2011, 05:28 PM
Mark Cantrill asked me to post a slight revision to the rules for the Strickland/Archer match.

There is a thread from Mark that was posted at 11:30 and your post is at 11:49, so either you took 19 mins to compose your post or you didn't see it:D

CaliRed, my apologies if you were not the one who posted that an individual was traveling without a PC. Someone did and I am looking back to reread that post. MY bad.

Is Mark Cantrill the "official" promoter of this event?

You are truly Clueless. I told you that you need "empathy" not "sympathy".

If you don't know the word look it up.
You are obviously biased since you have (maybe still do?) produce streamed events. Look at it from the viewers/customers point of view.

As far as sounding like a cry baby, get real! You don't have an accurate perspective on the situation or my previous post.

things happen.

i feel sorry for tvmike.

he's losing money, his reputation is taking a bad hit, while current and potential customers are turned off.

i'm fairly new to pool and i have learned quite a bit from watching streams, both free and ppv. live streaming seems to be fairly tricky technologically, with various parties responsible for different aspects of the venture.

a couple of suggestions for mike: apologize on the stream today and in here and any other appropriate pool forums.

the other recommendation involves today's stream. if the problem recurs on the ppv site, i think the tar solution was most fair -- open it up to everyone for free. (if it works on the free site of course.)

i didn't ask for a refund from tar and i wouldn't from tvmike. and i wouldn't be upset if it has to be streamed for free today.

Both actually. The free stream is working great btw. Are you actually defending the lack of communication from the hosts prior to Marks 11:30 post?

Lets stop all the fighting and get to the meat of this entire situation, many of use feel like we were bent over a pool table making a shot and in the process physically assaulted!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't matter what Mike, Joe or Kentucky Fried Fred said, we the customers got screwed, and we did not even get a reach around!!!

I don't care who does it get the refunds rolling, I bought my ticket on MikeTV, MikeTV streamed the event, MikeTV Advertised the event, So Mike where ever you are get it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

You want to play with the big boys, stand up like one and do the right thing.:)

Bad Blood Bad Broadcast

Folks,

We here at Drifters apologize to those that had trouble with the Bad Blood video feed. I wish there were something we could do to help you all with this. I'm open to suggestions. At the least, if you are ever in Lincoln, let me know and I will set you up with some food and drink.

That sux for those who paid for this event, I was gonna order ,but got caught up in other tasks, hope this issue is resolved, if not ,
Ill never let mike.tv see any of my money..:nono:

I don't think a refund is in order. I think like a 50% off a dvd and then maybe half off another stream would be more than enough to satisfy anyone. It was only $25. Not to belittle the people who purchased this at all, because i was really thinking about it, but i had other business to take care of on friday and ended up not purchasing it.

But if it's like everyone is saying and no one was able to view half of the matches on the first day, at least a discount on a future PPV or dvd purchase is in order.

It is a shame that all this happened. I truly think there were some good pool folk behind this endeavor who put a lot of their time, money, and effort into making this a success. It's awful that the technology did not cooperate this past weekend. :(

Sometimes there is more happening behind the scenes than we know. I understand what it's like to work under stress when things aren't moving along as planned. I am sure we all have.

I am reminded of the 1986 Maryland State Tournament, which I was the tournament director. I tried to cover all my bases. I even printed out a two-page rules sheet for all the competitors. I discussed the tournament format with a variety of pool folk in the know at that time. We had a players meeting. I had referees. I thought everything was intact and ready to rock and roll.

Well, there was one player named Ed who played like a turtle. I mean, he took like 2 and 3 minutes between shots. I wasn't prepared for this. It held up the entire chart, this Ed's slow play.

Two local hot pool players, Freddy and Scotty Boggs, were in the house. I was good friends with both of them. Freddy was competing in the event, and his younger brother Scotty was supporting him on the rail.

The owner of the pool room, Richard Allen (good guy, love Richard), was directing me that this tournament must conclude by evening because he was losing table time. I was getting pressure from all directions.

Meanwhile, Scotty came up to me because Freddy was waiting 45 minutes for his upcoming match, and he demanded to know *when* Freddy was playing. He was kind of aggressive in his inquiry, and I remember snapping at him, "I'm doing the best I can. I can't make that guy play any faster." Scotty and I were friends, and I will never forget the look on his face when I barked at him. :o

Moral of the story, sometimes sh*t happens, and no matter how much preparing you do, it can still happen. I applaud all the organizers, hosts, and TVMike's efforts. If there is a next time, they will truly learn from this event how to make it better. :)

Did you pay using PayPal? Yes you did. Then file your complaints with PayPal. The guy running the show doesn't have your money.

Nice gesture, Nils. The last day looked pretty good, I caught the last 15 minutes of the 14:1 and liked it.

Nils,

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you in a few areas, the way you anticipated. You are a class act and it was my pleasure to meet you. You got a great little room there and you've got some great fans there. I'm glad that you got the chance to have 2 great players come in there and put on a great show. Hill-Hill in the 10 ball and a comeback by Earl to win the straight pool, you couldn't ask for a better outcome in the play.

You're a class guy and I hope more good things come your way in the future!

Thanks for your hospitality while I was there!

Greg
