Reputation is gay.....

I REP alot of people new people and old timers, for their posts/threads. I have asked on ocassion "hit me back" I was depressed a while back real depressed because i was stuck in bed, especially when that one operation kept me bed ridden for 4 weeks, so yeah i asked people to REP me, I was depressed and REP was my hobby-I told that to everyone, It made me feel good everytime someone rep'ed me. It was about the only competitive social interaction I had-playing the REP game for 4 weeks(if that makes me a bad guy, shoot me). I dont ask for REP anymore, and my asking didnt get me much REP, which is cool,. perhaps I was out of line to ask for it-but man I was depressed.

No system is perfect, the real judge of who's appericated the most is to take the rep score divided by number of posts. That person is #1 and would be Terry. He has monster REP and few posts considering how much REP he has, thats the true batting average, If I sat here and had 59,000 posts I most likely would have the most rep or anyone for that matter(No JAM i'm not knocking you-your a major assett here and my friend, I respect you, like you and Keith, you are a huge asett to pool by being with one of my pool Hero's-I see those pics you post-I never saw him happier and thats because of you). No i'm not sucking up to JAM that was something I have been meaning to tell her for a while, i'm practicing my writing and thought it was the approite time to publically thank her for being a great woman in many ways.

I have alot of REP because yes I did ask when Iwas super depressed, but I too have contributed alot here and hopefully made people smile or in the rare case taught, informed , helped people-thats my goal to be respected, give respect and do as much as I can to keep AZB the #1 board or "Rail Birds Board". I dont take things personal here so I consider everyone here my friends, and am willing to do what I can as a friend, as friends should do, its about sharing experiences, view points, opinions, help(dont sand your shaft with 80 grit)<---see I saved a shaft. ;) :)

Ths site and EVERYONE here has helped me to get through the worst thing in my life-becomming a cripple, second to losing my mom to cancer, I'm cripple now, I played Mailman last night race to 7 for $50. I made 3 balls in 8 games of 9 ball and lost 7-1, I couldnt bend over to play, I have been hitting them ok, but last night I bent over the first shot and couldnt play. 3 balls in a set that hurts. I did make a awesome shot on a 8 ball and he gave me the 9. So comming here is valuable to me, and hopefully others too.

Reguardless of what ppl feel. If you have 150 posts and basically "0" itrader just how good can your "rep" possibly be???

Dave, I don't buy and sell cues here, so my itrader is 0 and probably always be. I guess you have a different idea of what REP is than just about everybody else in this forum, so thanks for setting us all straight. I would REP you, but I don't want to piss you off.

seriously. After my last post I got PM'S from ppl that were " offended"
even with me saying I wasn't downing or attacking anyone.

Itrader has only been around for less than a year. Most people hang on to their cues a little longer than that.

So I've just looked at the "rep" stack rankings for the first time in quite some time.... I notice something strangely amiss....

You see, there are quite a few tools who've accumulated a huge amount of rep points. I submit to you that this is based upon three different reasons:

  • Cliques - "let's rep each other to death!"
  • Nuthangers - "You make the greatest cues evAR!!!" or "my god you're rich, so I'm going to blow you over the intarweb!!"
  • Posting to death... "I LIVE for AZB!!!!"

Sorry, but who really gives half a shit about some green dot or stack ranking amidst a sea of "Bangers", as Bruce de Nit would call it? It's gotten obscenely stupid... Sad thing was Donovan had the jump 2 years earlier than the last "posse" ever had....

and for what it's worth, I've probably given rep 30x in my life, and that was for GREAT posts.... now it seems people will rep someone for posting, "So I took a huge dump this morning....."

Retarded, I tell ya.....

yes, point well taken, and seeing how many rep points you have seems to really drive home the point about the "retarded" nature of it all.

He told me in a PM that he doesnt care what I have to say. Boy, he must of had a real bad day. LOL
I guess because I dont do business on this site, I am not very important.
All I have to say to that is, "If Smorg thinks Im important, then thats all that matters.!!!!!" LOL
There are some real good eggs on this site. Thank you for making me feel welcomed.

When did the word "gay" become synonymous with all things bad, petty, in poor taste, tacky, stupid, etc.?

I have been hearing more and more people use the expression:

XYZ is really gay!

...and it is usually meant in a derogatory fashion.

What gives?

What??

My English prof in college hated it so bad when a word got stolen or hijacked, as he called it, like that. He used the word queer one time in a totally unsexual way. A couple of students chuckled and he went on a rant that you would not believe. I had made A's on all papers but cut his class a couple of times, which is perfectly acceptable. I got a c for the semester.

That term is so 1970's I remember seeing news footage of a gay rally in San Fran on the evening news. Guys walking around in assless chaps shouting "We're here! We're Queer! Get used to it!" My parents were totally discusted by it. I remember my father saying "If they're going to be that way fine, just don't push it in my face" which for the time was a remarkably tolerant statement.

I think he's just trying to prove how meaningless rep is by getting to the top with BS NPR posts... and what a worthy cause! Rep bomb.

It's interesting you would bring this up...

because if you look here....

http://www.insidepoolmag.com/forums/members/list/?order=DESC&sort=reputation&pp=250

The first 6 members are "Army" members and you're included. So if it's gay then the bunch of you guys must all be sharing the same FOXHOLE or each others since it's gay...

I don't know if it's been said, but on another forum the reset the rep points twice a year. That way nobody's weight weighs too much and you earn your rep points constantly.

Not that it matters, but some people care............a little too much.
