How Awful,,,,,,,,,

This horrible news is too much to bare....

I had the distinct Honor to call Doug a friend and was blessed to have been in his company amongst others at the SBE,,,

I , at the time had a question about doing an ''enhancement'' on my previous Lasik surgey which I felt may have been somewhat of an impssition to Doug as of course we were all sitting around talking about cues and such,,,there was in attendence Bill Schick, Mike Bender, Roy Mallot, Dennis Searing and Cliffy,,,

Doug not only answered my question but gave me an impromptu consultation right there ,,,,as I recall, he even adjusted some pairs of glasses for the guys,,,,

The term True Gentleman is often passed around way too lightly ..but Doug was the definition of the term....

I really admired him for the great guy that he was,,,,

All i can say is tragic. One of the nicest guys i have ever come across. I will miss our times hanging out at the sbe drinking and talking cues.

My heart goes out to his wife and children.

Floored

I was on the phone with Joel Hercek earlier and he told me about Doug, it is just hard to believe someone so young can be gone so fast.It goes without saying what a great guy he was by hearing how much everyone liked him. He will be missed by all who knew him.My prayers are with his family.

MAN I HATE TO HEAR THIS! Doug and I had a few Engles deals and he was a great guy...I will miss him and hope his family the best dealing with the loss! Ron Seymour

I've never had the pleasure of dealing with Doug or talking to him. He has the utmost respect from everyone on this forum from his many contributions to our hobby. It is always sad when someone so young and full of life leaves us so early.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife and children.

May you rest in peace,
Chris

RIP Doug

I met Doug at an ICCS show years ago and traded with him here on AZ. I am truley saddened by the news.
He was a great guy and will be missed. My prayers and condolences for his family.

I've been reading the posts all day in this thread. I never had the pleasure or opportunity to meet Doug, nor did I ever do any kind of transaction with Doug. AZ has become a part of my life...neither a good thing nor a bad thing...however, because of that I felt like I "knew" Doug due to seeing his posts on many many occasions.

Seeing the outpouring of emotion from community members...reading the positive words from all who had the pleasure of meeting such a wonderful man...and feeling the pain that so many friends and family members are going through with the untimely passing of such a well-respected, and dare I say "honorable" man, it reminds me of the type of person I endeavor to be...and perhaps that's why he was here...to show each of us what we're all capable of being...if we choose.

Thank you Doug...I wish I would have had the opportunity to say that to you personally...

Brandi...my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family...thank you for being supportive of us in being a part of Doug's life...

I am at a loss for words. Truely a sad day. Doug's family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad I got to know him. Troy

I am in shock along with all of you. I, too only knew Doug through here but he truly was a great guy in my book. The dealings I had with him were top notch and you could tell he cared about everyone he came in contact with. What a great loss. My deepest sympathies to the family......

RIP Doug.

John
