For all you flamers that enjoy jumping on the hate wagon, I'm sure this thread and the other one have provided hours of entertainment for you. Now go ahead and flame away.

King Ray has spoken.

Glen and Diamond both have been battling growing pains for some time. They are understaffed and everyone pitches in and picks up slack where they can.

Ray

There's 8 million unemployed and underemployed Americans.

Just saying.

I'm certainly not reading every post on this matter, but someone above quoted Glen from May that said he was gonna have someone at Diamond ship the rails back. If you are gonna say what someone said back in May, please quote that post.

Glen and Diamond both have been battling growing pains for some time. They are understaffed and everyone pitches in and picks up slack where they can. Both Glen and Diamond have a great product. If you think you can get a buddy deal/brother in law deal, or whatever you wanna call it, and still be top priority from anyone who is tops in their field you are kidding yourself. This is why "deals" are getting few and far between. Try and do someone a favor and it bites you in the ass.

Glen aint ripping anyone off. When I hired Glen to re-do my table I knew it would take a while. It took about 8 months for him to get to me. I knew it going in. Would I do it again? Absolutely.

For all you flamers that enjoy jumping on the hate wagon, I'm sure this thread and the other one have provided hours of entertainment for you. Now go ahead and flame away.

Enjoy,

Ray

From May 28: "If it makes you feel better, I dropped the ball on this deal and failed the customer, so the reset button was hit and he got his money back and rails shipped back. Now what? There's no point in going over this over and over again, as it's not going to reverse the past"]

You may say he's not ripping anyone off but he sure doesn't know how to tell the truth.

My two cents:

If a person is providing a service (for money) works on "Jamaican-time," it's up to that person to clearly define an ETA for getting the services done before accepting the money. That way, the time frame is accepted by the client and is not dictated by the vendor after taking the cash and/or materials.

Example: "If you hire me, expect X-months for a turn-around."

If that's the case, no one would complain. Instead, it appears as though someone gets excited that RKC is working on their table, they give him the $$ and the material and he appears to MIA (in their eyes).

If Glen would just say, "Hey - I'm kinda popular and work out of my truck - so this will definitely be a while...actually, up to 8-12 months while," nobody would complain. If that wouldn't work for the client, they just wouldn't move forward in the deal. But, if he accepts peoples' cash and materials and then dictates his own time frame, that's totally unacceptable.

Nobody would hire him either. I don't care how good you are supposed to be, there is no way in hell I'm going to be without my home table for 2 weeks let alone months.

Agreed...
Although, I'd go 2 weeks (maybe even a whole month) if the results were extremely noticeable. But there is a reason why we have home tables... and it's not for them to sit in pieces in a garage for months at a time. Life is too short for waiting this long (and longer) to get a table setup, and (usually) you still have to finish building the room around it afterwords.
I wasn't completely happy after 2 mechanics had worked on my table... so I studied everything that I could find about proper table setup (and about my own table), bought a Starrett 98-12 Machinist Level, a good torque wrench and tweaked it into perfection myself. I'm somewhat OCD about how my table plays but my friends will tell you... they've never played on a truer rolling table.
I'd just gotten to the point that if I want it perfect... I had to start learning and fix it myself. I have a guy that's good. He knows that I'm going to supervise him a bit on what I want done and how. I pay him a bit extra for his time and let his guys do all of the muscle work... he treats me with respect (and doesn't get offended) because he knows that I am a shooter and not just someone who wants a family table just to knock balls around on.
It's easier, faster and cheaper than waiting on a prima donna with a "when I get around to it" attitude as their deadline.

Oh I totally agree, but some probably would. My point was if that was known up front and the person actually DID agree -- then they wouldn't complain. That was my point.

Well he told the OP the rails would be immediately shipped from Diamond.

So after the initial failure, he went ahead and provided a prompt timeline to patch things up. Then failed to deliver again.

So at this point it doesn't matter what Glen says. What time frame he gives you. His word is garbage.

Agreed Bishop.

Seems pretty stupid to me that anyone would say Glen says this or Glen says that.

He lied.

I guess if you are stupid enough to want to be lied to again you could have Glen tell you another one, but why would you believe ANYTHING he said.

I hope this goes in front of judge and let him tell this in front of judge....trust me this wouldn't take long to make a judgement.

He will probably be late to the hearing or be a no-show totally!

He will probably be late to the hearing or be a no-show totally!

And then 100 folks will go to the judge and tell them what a great job he did on their tables and it really doesn't matter that he didn't show up to his court date.

The judge would then be instructed that he or she should consider themselves lucky for a Pool Table Repair God like Glen, even if he doesn't show up or do what he was supposed to do.

I don't have time to go back thru 20 pages - has Glen ever responded to this thread?
