Rodney shows up in Reno

The casino may be open to the public but it is a privately owned entity. They would require very little reason, in the way of justification, for removing someone from the premises. So you sue? BFD. What were your damages? The admission fee? Just because you sue and win doesn't mean you're automatically awarded a big payday.

Even if you are awarded a big payday, collecting is a whole 'nother matter.
You can claim all sorts of damages and a jury could also award punitive damages.
Sure you could sue, but what for? Civil law is some of the most boring stuff there is, you could die under all that paper and your case would never come to trial. This is where as a business owner you would have to do an "actuarial analysis" - does it cost me more to offer some sort of minor settlement or more to defend this thing? Like saying here's 10 grand, now go away and before you do sign this statement that says you'll never try to enter another venue where I'm holding an event. The courts are full of these law suites. I don't know either of these people, but really, I kinda doubt that either of them are seriously considering this as even a slight possibility. Just sounds like they're both pissed off

So is it proper for Mark to open up a renowned pool player to this sort of public ridicule? He's a smart guy and knows he just fans the flames when he posts here for the "little people" to read.

If you want to save pool or just make a livinig off it, I think it would be prudent to not respond in a forum about how you treat the help. Unless it's all about ego...then just tear each other apart.

So invite whoever you want to your event, heck ban spectators you don't like ect..., just promote players who you can make business agreements with. Hell monopolize the game entirely. Mr. Griffin has more to say about the future of this game than almost anyone. Maybe he's the messiah, if so he better learn to just turn the other cheek.

Maybe you should just start over with the thread, you seem rather confused about things that have happened.

I must have missed the Rodney/CSI thing. What actually happened? This is the first that I heard about it and it doesn't really say anything except he was walked out by security.? Could anyone explain?

Rodney dressed up like a big husky girl to try and get in the ladies division of a CSI event. He made it all the way to the finals without anyone noticing but ultimately got barred for life. Anyway, that's what went down. Can't believe you missed it

If Pool was a professional endeavor, it would have a governing organization to sanction tournaments and discipline players, with reasons and penalty known to the public.

Since pool is not a professional endeavor, it has no governing body, tournaments are not sanctioned and information is kept secret.

See what happens in snooker. :bash:

I agree with you - it would be dumb on all parts to turn this into a legal issue. I was merely pointing out that it could quickly become one if all parties are not careful to cover themselves.

There are many low-end desperate lawyers - it costs a few hundred dollars to file a suit and the chances of a quick settlement are great if insurance is involved.

If this happened, however, CSI would have to weigh the cost of defending a suit versus settling. Sadly, it almost never makes sense to go to court when you or your insurance can settle for a small amount - which is why there are so many lawyers in the world and so many nuisance suits. I do events and carry a $5,000,000 liability package for such reasons.

Most of the pool halls and casinos in the United States have a list of people who are banned. Good luck winning a lawsuit.

Rodney in Reno

Takeitdown,

I did not start these posts or the FB. Rodney started this controversy by posting items on his FB - items that I cannot even see. I did NOT open him up to ridicule. He was simply told he cannot play in CSI events.

I insist he knows why - but he says he doesn't. He calls me and I tell him it has nothing to do with liking a person - yet he posts the exact opposite.

My intent was not to embarrass him - or anyone else. However, he must be prepared for the fallout if he starts telling inaccurate stories.

you're so full of it - you DID READ the entire thread!

one thing you missed, Honey - if a lawsuit were based on reasons of "disrespect", then it's fair game.... no holds bar.... any & every thing can be thrown on the table....

(i say: GO FOR IT! :rotflmao1: )

Mark Griffin

Since there has been a lot of speculation in this thread and the other..... will you let him play if he apologizes?

Is there hope for Rodney?

Mark,

If he puts on a dress and wears high heels, whatever you do, don't kick him out!

BECAUSE HE WAS BARRED FROM THE EVENT.

Man what is it with you? You constantly want to play this Rodney is a victim BS. Either you're very dense, or you just want to stir the pot. I'm guessing, and hoping for the latter.

Whoa dude take a chill pill. He was barred from playing in the event. Who gives a rip if he watches. Geesh some people. Correct me if I am wrong but Mark doesn't own the place. I just wanted to know if he did something while on the premises that got him kicked out.

I am just curious as to who is on the list and is it indefinite? I know he was banned from playing but why was he not allowed to spectate as long as he was not causing trouble and just rooting his buddies on?

Just wondering why when he was asked to leave the tournament area, he insisted that he be escorted out by security? Sounds like he came to make a scene.

Lenny,

I got a question for you? What has Rodney DONE to put a band aid on the situation he created? All I have seen is him pouring accelerants on an already bad situation.

Based on your answer to this question above, do you think he DESERVES reinstatement on the eligible list?

KD
