Shaw/ Bergman- OFF

Oh, I didn't like him much before we played, but for the record, since you asked....

He generally plowed through the middle of the rack on the cut break, hitting 2-3 balls in the rack area, and managed to get a straight in shot at the 1 or 2 a combined total of 6 times for simple runouts. When I finally caught a break and he left the 1 ball in the center of the top rail, forcing him to play safe... I kicked it good, kicking it (intentionally) towards a corner that was blocked by the 5/9. The 1/5 was so close together and offangle he lined up to hit the 1-5 carom off the back of the 9, since it laid natural.

He hit it so bad he overcut the 1 ball by a half ball and accidentally made the 9.

I don't mind being beat by a champion at all. It's the GAME that's broke. I came up in the game where no matter who you were, you had to come up to the breakshot, knock the shit out of them, WITH CONTROL, if you were gonna run racks. It pretty much doesn't matter where you rack the 9 ball, the template racks on slick cloth mean a ball is going in automatically, somewhere, if the rack is hit atthe proper angle. Template racks have ruined 9 ball as an effective challenge.

You’re so bitter lol

I'll say it right here and now.. Jason Shaw is the benificiary of the modern propensity to play all major events on looser pockets, with brand new cloth. His run and gun style plays well on this sort of equipment, but as evidenced by his performance against Aranas, the second he stops getting a straight in shot on the 1 or 2, he gets drilled. As opposed to Efren in his prime.. Efren was most dangerous when there was a little play in most racks.

Firstly, with not that many exceptions, pool has been contested on loose pockets for a century.

But that said, Shaw has shown incredible form in the Ocean States Championships at Snookers against super-tough Joss Tour fields. All later rounds are played on Table 1 there (which I've played on and it's difficult), which has super-tight pockets and usually does not have new cloth. He has also excelled on the silly-tight front table that was used at Steinway, sometimes called "Earl Strickland's table," and has shown strong form on the silly-tight table used for the World Pool Series events.

He's shown solid form in every discipline in pool, and if you've watched his bank pool matches, you already know that his defensive play is superb and his speed control exquisite, and his application of billiard knowledge is scholarly. As you suggest, there are areas in which Jayson can still improve, and he's got both the desire and work ethic to further hone his skills, but his skills are pretty well developed already.

Let's give him the nickname of "the one dimensional player who shows form in all games and has succeeded on both loose and tight equipment."

This is so simple!

You don't blame Big Truck and you don't blame the owner of Steakhorse! They added 8k and tried to put money in your pocket!

You are only as good as your word!

You live and die by your word!

If you can't keep your word or have any chance of difficulty! A simple "thank you but no thank you"

WHAT WE GOT!

A "F" the fans and the world! They are not "$hit " and the promoters and opponent!

Based on his behavior and attitude! I would never use a product that sponsored him!

I have known big truck for years and the way he is trying to do him dirty after trying to put money in his pocket is just unacceptable!!!

The Berg gets my vote in this situation....offered to play on any table in their room.

The bridge is very important to any pool player...
...this is one that Shaw has burned
The ‘in’ crowd thinks it was the $$$ that Shaw had troubles coming up with....
...the sour grapes was just smoke.

I don't believe that it was the money!

I think that Bergman would have bet less money !

The owner was covering 10k and if he could only raise 3k to 6k his end I am certain that it would have been a bet!

The fact that he went to the tournament overseas says it all

Versus

Playing here and getting his proverbial nuts cut off for the second time!

Worse is that he does not understand the damage he has done! No more people will want to work with him! In pool, with money hard to come by! Just have him ask Mike Dechaine and Ryan McCreesh! Barred from tournaments and can't get a game! Hennesse is on Santa naughty list also!

It pays to be nice!

So Shaw didn't show at the Euro event that had a top prize of $4.5K, 170 entries.

The Berg match was going to be $8K added.

I heard Shaw tried to get in but tournament was full...

Justin is really putting on a show so far today in his match with Corey.

He won 10 Games and Corey only won 2 so far

Corey's 3 on the wire are added in already to the score

Justin running out like water lol

When you get in stroke, everything looks like a run-out on a bar table playing Eight Ball. I have vague memories of feeling that way. Once upon a time I never looked for a safety (that was a great way to kill your action), and always played for a run-out. When you're playing good you can break balls out when necessary to complete the run.

One thing I noticed back then was that by playing my best, a lot of guys would keep putting their quarters up because they wanted to be the guy to beat me. If I started playing safe (dirty pool they used to call it), everybody would quit and there would be hard feelings. So the best strategy was to get up there and run out whenever you could.
