Shoot out at the Helfert crib

Just being fair.....

Ok to answer some questions, we don't really have room here for streaming and I felt this should be a private match. Both players liked it this way as well. Plus no table time and free food! Hard to beat that.

I only have room here for a few people to watch, that's why there were only four or five people in attendance. If I had more room I would invite a few of my L.A. area friends. Sorry guys.

They played again today, a rematch and Dennis won this time 4-3. Took about three hours and more good pool by both players, but what else would you expect. Most of the time today it was only me watching. I was babysitting my two grand kids (8 and 11) so they kept me busy. After the set, Shane took off on a date and Dennis and Ramon are going to Manny Paquiao's house later. Maybe I will go along, but I'm not sure yet.

P.S. We were all shooting one handed push shots from 25 feet. I got hot for a second or two. And as for you Russ, NO CHANCE! You play me even like everyone else. Joey you sure are confident, that makes me scared. But I can be scared and still play. ;)

Jay,
We love your stories and I love your stories.

I've been trying to scare you with some false bravado on my part and I see that it isn't working so I will just go ahead and stick my neck out.
(I know, I know)

I am tired of getting PMs from people telling me I am scared to play you. It gets old after a while even if it is from buds. Some of them actually believe it.

I am guessing that if this one pocket match is ever to take place it had better be soon. Tunica, MS is just around the corner time-wise.

July 20-28th.

Would you like to establish a date and time for our match as well as the stakes?

I should be able to make it to Tunica by the 22nd and will be available to play between the 22-29th. I will play a race of one pocket 4-6 games even-up for either $500 or $1,000. The sum makes no difference to me. You make the call. I would also like to establish a date for the match, hopefully the sooner the better.

I'm coming primarily to play in the tournament. If you don't want to play, say so, and I will be out of your hair. :p

I wanted to be fair and give you plenty of time to prepare for our match. I didn't want to just sneak up on you at the tournament and announce that i was ready to play. But please don't ask Van Boening or Orcollo for any pool lessons in the meantime.

WHAT???? I never beat anyone in my life, Jay.. And you wanna play me EVEN??!!?!?!

Holy Smokes.. I knew you liked to play it tight, but I had no IDEA! Lookit what it says besides my name over there..

"Short Bus Russ - C player"

Confirmed by Smorg, before he passed... You can't really resist easy action like 9-7, can yah?

Russ

You've got a game, see you in Tunica. Race to Five for 500. Don't be late!

FYI everybody, I'm the underdog in this match whether Joey admits it or not. Several people who know us both have told me that I'm about a ball under Joey at One Pocket. I don't really care. Ronnie told me something I never forgot, "You make the best scores when you outrun the nuts!" Joey still has to make eight balls every game just like me. I've been the 'dog' before, many times. Maybe I feel comfortable knowing I'm up against it. I'm like Avis, I try harder!

Fair enough. I know you've been laying it down for a long time. It doesn't matter. I'm glad we're going to play. I wanted to give you plenty of time to get in stroke and I know I'll have my work cut out for me.

At the U.S. Open when we played, what did I win, like ONE game ahead.....That's nothing and you and I both know that you were playing with a "bamboo piece of s**t" and hadn't practiced in months... It's cool. I know we can both afford to lose a few hundred. It will be fun.

Yep Jay, its' the AZ ''Velvet Foghorn''....comin' at ya.

Damn, Jay

Why don't you get some talent around you? Hanging with shortstops like Shane and Dennis can give you a bad reputation.
You are the man, for certain.
Keep it nice. Alfie
