So the Bonus Ball saga continues.....

as a pinoy, its kinda sad to hear all the old guys (efren, alcano, bustamante, and a lot more non filipino veterans) still gambling at their age. Just look what happened to Orcullo, so pathetic. he is supposed to be the best player, along with SVB, but they still need to gamble to have a decent income. Sure some of them are gambling just for fun, but for the rest?

When I read your post here, I was like... hmmm, is this someone with skin in the game? So I checked a few of your other posts. The following 2 I am quoting seem a bit contradictory, or at least reflecting a change in outlook. You are @ the only one posting in this thread that isn't ticked @ today's delayed press release illustrating further broken promises.
How many fans stayed after the BCAPL in Vegas in hopes to watch BB when BB might have been more forthright? How many people have pinned their hopes &/or $$$ on BB and how many others (ex. promoters, players) felt some sting?

Just curious Boogeyman...

Everyone else understands a dead horse can't run!

Unless it is on a Merry Go Round.

Which the players certainly seem to be riding at the moment.

One of the biggest head scratchers was and is the management. They're playing games with their biggest asset. No players, no BB.

Not that they aren't, or trying but you'd hope that management would be doing everything possible to, at the very least to have the players paid up to date.

Even if that means that Chibb has to walk up and down the Strip with a tin can in his hand.

I read fat Boys post where he said that BB will be back and that the new investors are Scary Rich.

Hey, maybe they got Scared.

They had enuff money for two seasons, when it seems as tho someone knew that they barely had enuff for 3 weeks.

Someone had a bag of carrots and a lot of sticks. Maybe some of the players can weather the break ok, but what about the ones that can't.

BB should be ashamed of themselves for putting them in that position. I would bet that the few in upper tier production aren't living in their vehicles at the moment, and eating hot dogs from the Casinos.

Just wondering at the moment, what might have transpired if BB would have been more cordial to some of the promoters.
Maybe they are wishing that they had a little help right now, if not money but solid advice.

Anyone smell a lawsuit in the future?

no, what good is a judgment when they cant make pay-roll?.

its time for Gorden Gekko to come in and do a hostile take over and run it right. It might lose $$ for 5 years, but in the end a new cue sport(with simpler rules) could be created.

true statement.

in my business, we are independent contractors, for manufacturers. if we don't get paid (well then, we stop working for you!) - it is impossible to go after someone outside of the US.

Canada & Italy - only recourse, is to file complaint(s) in that country w/ their version of US Atty General/BBB. both countries' governments look down-on poor business transactions w/ the US (because the govt subsidizes). these agencies will put pressure on the mfg to pay-up/settle ASAP.

of course, if they've skipped the country w/ all the $,$$$,$$$, then -

Its 2013, i dont know what world you live in but cross-boarder lawsuits are common place in this world.

in this case useless but if they did have $$ and the players could afford lawyers its not hard to take action.

Doesn't this Larry own a bar in Canada or something --- and there are assets within Bonus Ball -- equipment, cameras, etc. All I know is that I wouldn't want to be the last player in line when seeking the money I am owed. Even small claims court without an attorney.

i have no idea, if he does it probably isnt doing very well-if it is being ran like BB has.

Actually one real good way to show they are serious is pay what they owe.

Another really good way would be to pay them for all of the weeks they have been laid off due to the managements incompetence.... The money they're owed is one thing but the weeks of ZERO pay has to sting the most. Why any of them would go back (if it actually takes off again) is beyond me.....

4. Dress up as a Bonus Ball Girl and collect donations at the local shopping center...

6. If Bonus Ball had Cheerleaders at halftime (for each of the teams) then the viewership would undoubtedly be up 1000% (or so)...so support unemployed Cheerleaders by demanding them in the halftime show of the new and improved Bonus Ball that's coming soon to Streaming Outlets near you and for that matter everywhere!!!

Which mall can I find my cheerleader in? I'm sold on this plan already.

Why so angry :( Sometimes we all take a risk for what we believe is good for our future. BB may have failed (i hope not), but i'm sure most of them wish it would succeed for all of them.

I don't think angry is exactly the right word to describe the feeling I have.

I am disgusted by the way another jackass is taking advantage of the best players of the game that I love.

I hope you're right Eric. Because it's really hard for us to any longer believe this mgmt team can pull it off right.

I watched their newly released 13 minute video, and there really is amazing creative shotmaking. I'll pay to watch and even fill a seat there - under the right circumstances...

If people hadn't seen this professional production yet, spend 13 minutes. Simply some of the best shots I have ever seen.

I now have my secret decoder glasses on and I will simplify the statements below...

From Press release:
The World Professional Billiard League’s 2013 season will continue to remain on hiatus during the next few weeks. At present, an exact restart date of the Las Vegas based league has yet to be announced.

During the last few weeks, the WPBL has worked tirelessly (NB: Scrambled) to rectify the unforeseen circumstances (NB:Our poor planning) which have interrupted (NB:We are under water and in trouble) the league’s 2013 season (NB:We blew our wad in two weeks). The management will continue to make the WPBL players a priority (NB:Obviously because the fact you had to pay them was a surpise) in every business decision made. With that said, it was discussed that a possible restart date of August 1, 2013 may have been plausible (NB:If everyone was willing to work for free and the landlord would give us a pass on the next 6 months of rent). However, in order to align the additional finances (NB:Find a new sucker) as well as strengthen the business model (NB:Rethink our flawed plan), the WPBL will need to remain on hiatus (NB: D ead) for the time being (NB:RIP).)

Hope this helps.

Well.... I actually really enjoyed watching this game, and I wanted it to do well, but at this point it's time to be realistic. Bonus Ball has about as much chance of success as (some funny metaphor).

I hope the players are able to see what's happening here and cut their losses before they put themselves out any further. Sometimes you have to recognize you're in a bad game and quit.

These guys didn't get to the level they're at without learning that.

I for one hope BB is done under current management. Why?

Because all they have done is lie.

~ Numerous missed dates. Many of them they KNEW they would miss yet let players make travel arrangements anyway.

~ "We are funded for two seasons"

~ "The investors expect to take a loss in season one" (Turns out they were right)

~ "10,000 viewers crashed the servers"

~ First they were going to wire the money. Then they were going to pass out checks on Friday. Then Monday. Now the check is in the mail. For only a portion of what is owed.

~ A message was sent to players that BB was suspended indefinitely last week. Yet they wait until two days before the announced start date to do a public release. What if fans who came for Nationals decided to stick around for BB ? Just another example of terrible management and not caring about anyone else. I doubt this is due to malice but is just a result of simple ignorance and incompetence.

I'm sure this will be confused as me being "against the players" as it always seems to be but it is not. I am against people jerking players around and stiffing them. Its wrong. It also hurts everyone in the industry when things get this screwed up. Makes everyone look bad.

Unless BB is taken over by a responsible management group it needs to die.

Great statements, well thought out. Does not sound judgmental to me at all, just common sense.

Certainly some good moments there (and some bad ones for Atlanta).

But just for balance, note that those 13 minutes probably represent only about one-fifth or one-fourth of one percent of the playing time of the 36 matches played to date. I watched about one-third of the matches (or the parts of those matches that could be viewed), and they contained a lot of not-so-interesting viewing -- as well as some highlights, of course.

its a highlight reel, take a baseball game 9 innings cut down to 15 minutes it might be exciting too. BaseBall is like 1P its cool if your into it, if your not it blows.

what that video shows is that there is potential to make pool exciting to watch, compared to 6 hour long 1P matches.

What it dont show is BB is a "too complicated to understand cue sport", Atlanta showcased that perfectly in this video.

where the rubber meets the road is to figure out something exciting, that people can understand the rules of. That could sell. The team format works well in the video and Mosconi Cup, so we learned pool can be exciting, to just more than pool people if presented right.

A fixed arena for filming is a good idea too, however running it 4 nights a week fpor 28 weeks makes no sense and is wasting every ones time and $$$. Having a crew work 100+ nights per year is a fairy tail, hell the NBA, NFL, MLB nobody uses their venue 100 days a year. Maybe run it 5 days straight for 12 hours a day every once a month or every 2 months . that would be more cost effective. then the players come play and leave, not live in Vegas and wait a week to play a match now and then for 28 weeks/year. I dont have the answer to this, i havent put that much thought into it. TAR does it right, they use the studio as needed and pay players as needed. BB could be done the same way. If they ran 12 hours a day for 5 days thats 60 hours of content, edited down 30-40 hours of video. that makes sense to me. And because it would only be open for 5 days revery month ot 2 there actually might be a gate and full stands.

my point is there is something here, its not FUBAR, its just not been ran right(like thinking having it open 100+ days a year is a good plan)

am i the only one here that noticed that? the 100 shows/year flaw in their biz model....

we will know soon;)
