JOHNNY made it to the last 6 in the 2005 IPT King of the Hill, IIRC, ultimately won by EFREN.

i think a big reason why they chose them is that they could draw a big crowd not that the players you've mentioned won't( who wouldn't want to watch reyes?) but Strickland alone would draw huge ratings, which is what i think they're trying to aim for.

It is my understanding that the IPT may come forth with a smaller tournament platform for next year, with tournament monies held in escrow.
Personally, if I were Kevin Trudeau, I wouldn't want a damn thing more to do with pool. He has been trashed by a lot of non-IPT competitors. However, the majority of IPT competitors, believe it or not, still would like to see the IPT back in the saddle again.
I think the IPT website is EXCELLENT, for what it's worth. The player selection of Earl Strickland and Johnny Archer seems appropriate, both being awarded the Player of the Year as reported by the American pool media.
I look forward to seeing this match on December 19th, 2007.
