SVB signs with Cuetec

R360

The people that run some of these cue stick companies continue to find great ways to introduce new products to the pool world.

Getting Shane on board with Cuetec is a fantastic move on their part.

He is sure to represent them in a very positive light and his presence will guarantee a focused spotlight on the R360.

Congrats Shane, this will add a lot of security to your career. Re: Gambling...I honestly believe that Shane and CueTech could turn Shane's gambling prowess into a positive that could be promoted. Since it seems to be imposible to seperate gambling from pool, I think it could be promoted in a way that it's a win-win-win for Shane, CueTech and Pool.
:p

I'm not so sure. Gambling in many states is illegal. Matches are often accompanied by side bets, which is illegal most everywhere. The culture of gambling has been a hinderance to many potential sponsors of pool over the years. This will be interesting.

Over the last few years, cuetec was pursuing a top german player (no names please). He couldnt shoot with their equipment. Turned them down. It's only now that they come out with a wooden shaft. It's about time. The extra ok met money they are paying shane is, I'm sure, much appreciated.

Congrats to both cuetec and shane.

Congrats to Shane!! That's some great news and Cuetec def. made the right move :)

Great news for Shane, congrats to him. Also i doubt he would sign if they told him he has to stop gambling.

Congrats to SVB and I hope that he puts every nickel that Cuetec gives him into action.

Does he want to sell his old cue?

Does Cuetec sponsor any other professional pool players (players from different countries)???

Shane is still in China and has little time to spend online but he wanted me to post this to let everyone know about his exciting news.

Shane is happy to report that he will join the Cuetec team with Allison as he signed a 3-year deal with Cuetec yesterday. This is something he has been considering for over a year now and he had interest from other cue companies as well. But after consideration, testing out several products and getting familiar with the company itself, Shane is very optimistic about the partnership with Cuetec and is very much looking forward to working with them. For anyone that doesn't know, they have a new wood shaft out (R360) that is made of Canadian maple which is what prompted him to start considering their offers.

Shane and Allison will be in Vegas in 2 weeks to represent Cuetec at the BCA Expo. This pic is from the players reception in China this week:

More details will probably be out soon in a press release.

Thanks for sharing this news, Cris.

Congratulations to Shane, a fine example to pool players everywhere and an important and credible ambassador for our game.

Congratulations and thanks to Cuetec, a company that has a long and rich history of supporting pro pool and its players. Your company has just made a great investment.

The same way we all do? Shane could pick up ANY cue and run out...so with a little practice, he will get used to this new cue, (as I am sure it is made to his specs) and he will become consistent with it. Earl played pretty good with his, and he used to be a Meucci guy in his youth!

I don't think matching up is an issue

There is a world of difference between gambling and hustling, particularly the shadiest side of hustling. We never hear of Shane doing anything that would bring discredit to himself or a sponsor. Having Shane onboard will be a big boost to Cuetec and I think having a little stability in his income for a few years will be a big boost for Shane. Looking forward to good things from both!

There are no stipulations that I know of. I think we can all agree that Shane doesn't involve himself in anything that would bring shame to any sponsor, even in the manner that he gambles, so I don't think that will be a problem.

Oh, I totally agree. Shane is world-class in my opinion. I just didn't know if there were any stipulations that said, in fact, "NO GAMBLING."

Of course...that could easily be fixed by calling a potentially match-up a mini one-on-one tournament, or something of that nature. There is a solution for any problem.

This is going to be an interesting change for Shane using a Cuetec cue. He's played with one Joss shaft on his Joss butt and later on a Schon butt for breaking and shooting for a long time. Most of his success has been using that one shaft and I wonder how he's going to adjust to a Cuetec cue and shaft.

James

He could have them make a butt that fits his shaft? :) Why not....since almost everyone uses an aftermarket shaft these days.

I'm totally buying an SVB model Cuetec when it comes out (w/ pred shaft).

Congrats Shane.....this is great news....couldn't happen to a better guy....

Wouldn't it be funny if all along Travis is just Shane having a little fun.....with his talent, he could easily beat any family member 7-0 as he usually claims.....and now he is with Cuetec....too many coincidences :D

Can't wait for the next Travis post, this is gonna be a good one....

Next thing you know he'll be wearing gloves, arm bands, glasses, extendable fingers, bells and whistles. The Europeans will hate him. Americans will think he's a dick. I doubt he will ever storm out of a tournament though but he may. Cuetecs make people crazy. I think its something the wraps are made out of that make men crazy and women are immune to.

Don't forget the cool pool shades and ankle weights that you put around your neck to keep down on every shot...

I am not a lawyer, but I am told that a money match-up between two players is no more gambling than entering a tournament and putting up your entry fee. "Gambling" is what is done by the railbirds who bet on an outcome that they cannot influence.

If money matches, where players put up their own money in an effort to earn a payday, is gambling, then every commission-based salesman is a gambler. Using your skills to earn an income is hardly gambling.
