SVB withdraws from future WPA events

I've notified my BCA league team about my decision to drop out for next session and to join other league. Also, I'd stop watching all pay viewing and related YouTube channels. I'm just an amateur and it may be insignificant but I've made up my mind until changes had made. It's funny that I rarely post in this forum but I feel compelled to do so this time, cheers!

I didn't want to be that guy, but it sure feels like all of this is just the players being told what to do. Since when have the players actually looked out for each other in a sincere way when it comes to governing bodies and whatever else in the world of pool?
When you introduce more resources (money) into an environment people stop acting less savage.

I noticed that SBC when Camel supported the pros.
It was weird seeing the pros ''listen'' instead of telling a sponsor what was best.

I don’t know.

A couple of months ago I read an article about cornhole… here it is:

And if you wade through all the hoopla about cornhole, about 2/3’s of the way through the article it mentions how streaming platforms are scrambling to sign up live, niche, sporting events.

So who knows what the future holds for pool.

Lou Figueroa
ESPN just made an episode of my kids amateur robot fighting league out of Norwalk CT.
It is ridiculously entertaining.

Honestly I can barely watch pool unless someone bets something. I'm still watching the video of you beating the man with the greatest chicken wing stroke in billiards history. When is the rematch?

Nice to see...who is next?

I was under the impression that BCA is associated with WPA because of CSI, or am I mistaken?
No, the BCAPL has zero association with the Billiard Congress of America or the WPA. (They did, about 25 years ago, but were sold then, and the buyer kept the letters "BCA" for brand recognition, and added PL.

Thank you for clarifying that. My bad, now I can continue with my team. This WPA sanction thing is getting to my nerves.

It’s also worth noting at the moment that the WPA is comprised of continental members (Europe, Asia, USA, etc). The decisions of the WPA come via votes and the BCA is firmly voting against all bans. And in this case the current bans are from the Asian member of the WPA, the ACBS. They are allowed to issue bans against their own players and for events in their territory without voting at the WPA level. So taking it out on the BCA is like being mad at someone for something their brother did.

Wouldn't you think at this point the WPA comes down on ACBS or publicly shames them?

People out to bury WPA in hate messages on their FB page....looks quiet there.

The WPA? The bureaucratic organization that has no authority in and of itself until it convenes a session of its joint continental member federations and votes to decide what its stance is? No. I don’t think they are coming down on anything for a couple months at best.

Bravo! As a living legend and one of the world's most visible professional players, Shane is taking on the role of elder statesman of the game and is showing great leadership as well as high principles. When Shane talks, people listen and when Shane acts, people pay attention.

Like so many AZB members, Shane is repulsed by the politics that continue to obstruct some of the world's best players from taking fullest advantage of the recent growth in our sport. In protesting by intentionally skipping WPA majors, he is leading by example, and let's hope some other WNT pros will follow his lead.

Shane was recently voted into the BCA Hall of Fame, and he just reminded us that he is also a hall of famer when it comes to tending to the best interests of his sport.
Shane is Pool's Tiger Woods!

Yep. Pool is still a long way from being able to offer free streams much less broadcast which is just about dead a HulaHoop these days.
There are dozens (or more) cable TV networks that could carry pro Pool. DAZN is a poor second cousin to the real cable network giants like Netflix, Disney, Sling, Hulu, Starz, Paramount, Fubo and so many others. DAZN charges too much and their content is too limited.
