We are back in the studio getting ready for TAR 26: Archer vs Van Boening presented by OB Cues and sponsored by Kamui and Simonis. Tomorrow night we will be doing a live podcast with Shane and Johnny starting at 9PM eastern/6 PM Pacific. If you have time drop in and join us.

If anyone has anything they would like me to ask the players about post it up in this thread and I'll do my best to get to it in the podcast. I went out and bought a stun gun so if anyone interrupts the players too much I'll use some negative re-enforcement. :grin-devilish: (always wanted to use the devil smile face).

We will be making the official announcement about TAR 27 tomorrow night as well.

All the PPV links to purchase will go up after the podcast tomorrow night. We have waited a long time for these two guys to go head to head and its finally here. I hope everyone can join us this weekend for the match.

Edit: I am only kidding about the stun gun. Honest.

Question for Johnny... With the responsibity of running a pool room, have you been able to play much to prepare yourself for the match?

I'd like to know if they watched the Hatch - Dechaine match and what they think of Dennis' and Mike's level of play. No not the nonsense stuff that happened but the actual shooting if they saw it. And then how do they think that their match, Archer - Van Boeing is going to be better?

Question for both guys.

Question 1.
Assuming that they would include themselves...who would be THEIR selection for Mosconi Cup team members and Captain. Their list. Forget the qualifying. If he holds a US Passport he can play.

Question 2.
Assuming that Jasmin Ouschan and Ga-Young Kim were men. What would their approximate rank be? Top 20/50/100/200 or more. Never mind politically correct. Just a number.

Looks like Bonus Ball is a go. I'd like to hear what both players think about the game, the schedule, conflicts with other events, etc.

Questions for Shane. 1) Do you ever just take a few weeks off from pool? I mean no pool at all including practice.
2) Do you have a plan for when you are finished with pool, when you get burnt out on it or there are not enough tournaments to make a good living? Thank you. Johnnyt

I would rather watch Johnny and Shane play marbles than watch them play that idiotic game. It's an insult to even consider it a game of pool.

I really like the question about who they think ought to be the captain for the Mosconi cup and how the players should be chosen. and IF they were captain what would they do different to ensure a better showing for the US ?

Question for Johnny, Where do you think your level of play is compared to 5-10 years ago and do you feel winning this match will quite alot of critics about your fading game?

Question for SVB, Did someone help you to learn how to play 1pkt at a high level?

That is silly. They won't publicly betray Chaaaaalie.

Question for Johnny, do you feel the level of play worldwide and in the United States has raised or lowered as a whole compared to the level of play in the 1990's? If so what do you attribute the change to?

Also for JCIN, the stun gun might be the golden ticket to turning the podcast to PPV. :grin-devilish:

I would ask them whether they liked the fact that the magic rack was used in th US Open 10-ball event. I saw one match in which the ten went in on the break six different times, so I can understand why they choose to spot it when this rack is in use, but I'm not a big fan of the magic rack, and from a fan standpoint, the fact that the rack cannot always be removed from the table after the break seems a bit ridiculous. Wonder how they feel.

First question is for both players. They are no doubt USA's 1 and 2 players. How do they feel they match up with the rest of the world. For instance orcollo and pagulayan or wu and yang or any other countries 1,2 punches.

Next I would like to know how they prepare for a big match like this. Table time in hours, what drills, exercise etc.

Thanks in advance.

For both Shane and Johnny:

You've been playing a pretty heavy schedule for awhile now, both in the USA and internationally, what are your feelings about the state of professional pool in the USA? What are a few things that you feel could be done to improve the money and/or fan base for pro pool here in the USA.

Also, it seems the prize money for the USA pro pool tournaments has never gotten to a level where more than a handful of players can make a decent living from the game, do you think that is because of a limited popularity of the game to fans, or has it been more of a problem that no one has been truly successful at organizing and promoting a Professional American Pool Tour here?

SJM,

I have never seen or heard of that before.
Did the 10-ball go directly in or did a ball come off the cushion and kick the 10-ball in? How many different pockets did the 10-ball go in?

My experience is that from the original hit, the 10-ball does not move if the balls are touching.

Thanks, and good seeing you again.
