Shane will be joining Mark and I on the podcast tomorrow night to discuss this weekends TAR 35 match where he will be taking on Dennis Orcollo in a ten ball race to 100. Just wanted to post a thread for any questions for Shane or suggested topics for the podcast.

So what say you?

Shane has never shyed away from playing the best. How does he feel about the potential of the upcoming Ultimate 10 Ball, Southern Classic, Vega$ US Open Events not containing the best players and will he feel if he wins any of these events, the victory has less meaning?

Obvious first question to both players...what do you think about the return of the race to 100? Do you think it's the best test of skill because the rolls even out etc or can it be hard to see the finish line?

-Brent

I'm interested to know what Shane's view is on Bonus Ball. The game, not the league. Darren Appleton has stated that the game of Bonus Ball is the best game and better than 10ball. I'd like to know how Shane honestly feels about the game and the way it's played.

Dennis will not make the podcast. He has meetings in LA Thursday and gets to Vegas early Friday morning.

I wanna know how does Shane feel about the consistency of his game from day to day. Meaning, does he feel like he plays about the same speed from one day to the next or does he think he plays a couple days good one bad etc, and if so does the change has to do with confidence.

shanes thoughts

what are his thoughts on low deflection shafts, are they necessary and worth using because they allow one to do more with the cue ball or is it better to stay with standard shafts. Also for a beginner should they go directly to a low deflection shaft and learn that way or use a standard shaft. Also tell him hes the man and i look forward to him being victorious.

thanks for all your effort over there, Ben

Since Dennis is out

What is Shane's favorite and least favorite pool movie and which ones has he seen?

Could you ask him to say Hi and maybe give a bit of advice for a young player (13) to my son Alex? SVB is his favorite player and Alex is now the MA Jr State Champion, will be heading to the Jr Nationals in July.

How often did Shane play when he was younger (pre-teen)?

TAR 35 Shane Question

I've noticed a few times when Shane has been down in a match, during his opponent's turn he has put his head down in what looks like a meditative state. On these occasions, after doing this, when his turn came up, he starting playing "lights out."

Would he mind sharing what goes through his mind? What does he think about or tell himself? Whatever he does, it seems to work.

Would he allow for a movie to be made about his life? Who would he want to play as himself in the starring role?

Has he ever considered opening up a structured pool school?

I would like to know how Shane feels about snooker such as Corey winning the US Snooker Chamionship and if he might try to do that as well or if that game is something that just does not interest him.

In the Shane v Efren podcast, you mentioned that going on the road was too dangerous. Do you have any interesting road stories?

You have played in different parts of the world? Which country has the best local talent? Are the Chinese and the Japanese players of the same caliber as the US/Filipino players?

What's the most weight you have given playing a local player and still come out on top?

Questions for TAR:
How about investing in a US vs Philippines cup similar to the Mosconi cup? That would draw in a lot of viewers as you would have realized in the Shane v Efren match.

How does he stay mentally in focus for long hours.
Does he really watch his opponent shoot intensely and if he does is he looking for something in particular or does he just sort of watch but basically thinks its him against the table and not necessarily against an opponent.

I would like to hear some road stories from Shane and how he got in to playing for $$ and what handicap he has given out?

Also what was the first game of pool he started playing very often and for $$ like 8ball, 9 ball, etc...?

Just two questions for me:

1. Does he like his mash pototoes with butter or gravy?

2. Does he feel like his game is still getting better? If yes, in what areas has he improved in recent years?

Don't really have to ask #1 since I already know everybody likes them with butter.

Who are the announcers

Good announcers really make the telecast.
I know it cost money for good broadcasters, I am willing to pay extra.
I really enjoyed Grady Matthews.

Signing off, I wish to say hi and all the best to all my ex wifes..

Ask him to provide specific examples of how his game has improved from a year ago, or does he focus primarily on the mental toughness given the level he has reached now. Also, does he prepare differently for different opponents?
