TAR Undercard Matches

I watched some of the podcast with Justin and Mark and I'm sure I heard them say that they appreciated feedback and suggestions though they don't always agree.

I'm not going to get into the bigger issues of industry-wide magnitude but I do have a thought.

Whether or not this has ever been discussed, I don't know, but I sure like the following idea:

Why not have "undercard" matches for the main events like they do in boxing, for instance?

I can think of a number of guys right here who, to put it mildly, have antagonistic relationships. I believe it would be big fun to see some of these guys 'settle it' on the table - so why not stream them as an undercard match?

I know it may be a pain in the neck to get the guys together but I, for one, would pay to see some of these matches even without the big name pro main event.

Maybe a small prize fund could be worked out or if the players were of a mind to, they could put up some or get staked. :smile:

When I was in bootcamp at Ft. Jackson, SC, there was a fellow soldier named Michel who, he and I, we were like oil and water. Or maybe more like gas and an open flame. :eek:

After a while, the drill sergeant picked up on it, and guess what he did?

He called the entire company into formation and announced that Michel and I were going to duke it out at 1200 hours in the sandpit. And so we did.

Probably close to 100 C-3-1 soldiers showed up and it was an uproarious time for all.

I'm wondering if any other az'ers would enjoy seeing some of our own matching up on stream, either as an undercard match for a big TAR match or possibly even on their own.

I can name a few matches I'd love to see. And they all don't necessarily have to involve guys who get on each others nerves, but it helps. ;)

I'm curious, what do you all think?

I think it is a good idea, though we mnight find the TAR crew unable to find value added by expanding the card.

And if I have the power, I would add a rule that "sharking allowed, talking encouraged". :smile:

Only when the shooter is NOT addressing the cue ball or when setting their bridge hand on the table.
 
I remember they did that at least once before. Bartram played Dechiane before two others played. Cannot remember who it was though.

KC....you aint getting off this lightly....
AZ wants a full report of the fight...who won, what was learned, and
what each combatant was doing 20 years later.

LOL!!! That would be great... I remember when those two first crossed paths here on the forums, kinda humorous if you ask me...although now, they did seem buddy buddy in the booth together commentating here recently!

On a somewhat more serious note I'm open to undercard matches if they truly add value to the main event and stir up interest. I'm not interested in Billy Ray and Little Jimmy playing $5 9 ball cause they think it'll be cool to be on a stream.

Lot of people going to be in town for Mosconi Cup in December.....lets figure something out.
 
Joking aside, I think this could be a great addition to the already F'N Fantastic TAR matches.

Like Justin said, It would definately have to be the "right" matchup.

Awww come on Justin. I will play you a game of One Pocket for a bottle of Makers Mark. Loser buys but winner has to drink it by the end of the match Sunday :thumbup:

I wasn't kidding when I suggested JB Cases vs. Eric:

1/ They are both good players and are about even in skills
2/ Well-known on AZB with many friends on each side
3/ They had talked of playing for $$$ before
4/ They both can afford to bet some $$$
5/ Both are passionate about the game
6/ Both have a history with each other

Not trying to start any $hit between them, but I would love to see them play. The only problem is John is in China. :smile: TAR might have more buys from this match than the Main Card. :D

Me and CW vs Bartram and Saw...set the shit up, we'll rob them fools, just has to be 9-ball or 10-ball.

You got me sir. :D Come in Thursday before TAR 22 and we'll play some as long as all the fires are put out....and if I can't play then we'll just drink the bottle I have stored for emergency rations.
