Tell David Matlock To Call Me Personally Please!!!!!!!!!!!

Playing in someone's home room is like giving up weight in itself. So if Dave will only play in Olathe he is getting more than the wild 8. He is getting home court advantage also.
JMHO.

These guys that come on here barking for Corey Deuel really give represent him very negatively as far as I am concerned. Jamie you could have had a game a long time ago if you would have represented yourself and Corey as gentlemen instead of being a jerk to everyone here who responded.

Look at guys like SVB. He post on this forum and always comes across as a gentleman. Never barks at anyone on here and always seems to be in action.

DD,
You are so right; the only people considering are asking for MORE advantage.

To my way of thinking the person giving the weight is entitled to set the parameters - the only "disrespecting" going on is guys trying to get more of an advantage and acting like Corey is in some way "ducking". There is NO onus on Corey to do any more; if players don't like the terms just say no. Props to Jamie and Corey for trying to stimulate some action.

Woah woah woah Willie,

I like you and all, but I think you are way off here.. This guy is woofing at Dave Matlock, and Matlock is just supposed to take it for granted that he's going to be able to drive 5 1/2 hours, and the game is going to be JUST like some guy woofing on the internet said it would?

And Matlock's backers... They are going to believe that someone who won't spend a few hundred bucks to come and gamble with Dave, is going to respect the game that was set up?

Did Corey insist that Harry Platis meet him in California? Harry would have told him to go **** himself. You think SVB goes around telling people they need to meet him 5 hours from their home court if they want to play him? Christ, no! He plays them pretty much wherever they'll put up the money!

Dave going to feel pretty stupid when he drives 5 1/2 hours from home, and they can't agree on the table, the cue ball, the lighting conditions, whether the pool hall keeps the air conditioning on, etc. It's not like Corey's playing a chump here. If Corey agrees to play on some garbage tables, then Dave has a real chance to take him down.

I GUARANTEE you, that if they match up in some town away from both of them, the game ain't going to be as easy as "You got your 10,000? Yup... You got yours? Yup... Well, let's lag for the break!"

Not a chance that's gonna happen. If I were Matlock, I sure as heck wouldn't travel 5 1/2 hours with $10,000 in my pocket, and then assume everything will work out. That's a sucker move.

Jamie made an open offer "Corey will give the 8 to any american on a barbox besides Archer, just come to ohio" I dont see how or why hes catching heat. Dave must not like the game because if he did, Hed fly to Ohio and play.

I doubt seriously whether Dave is very impressed with the fact that he is getting the 8. AThe 8 ball with these two means virtually nothing and may not even show up all night long.

What I'm curious about, has Dave ever recieved a spot from anyone on the bar table? I've never seen anyone I thought was capable of that and that is going back a ways.

They want to give the WILD 8 and that's huge IMO. Johnnyt

Yup!

There is going to be a lot of maneuvering if they give Dave the wild eight. I'd guess some serious arguments over the racking order of the balls just for starters. Giving Dave the wild eight on a bar table and a honest rack comes close to being a sucker bet for anyone.

They specified long "ahead" races so both players will be getting to the table unless the conditions become rack your own once Dave shows up to play. Whatever else Corey is, he is a rack mechanic too. I wouldn't bet him fifty cents and let him rack his own on a bar table regardless of the spot.

I guess it's just left to opinion and I understand that. I just don't see it being much weight for either of these guys. As matter of fact, I believe either might be able to give it to the other on any given day.

Dave Matlock was known as the bar box king for many years and takes big pride in that. I still have never heard of anyone being able to give him weight on the Bar box. Dave told me not so long ago {6 monthsAPP} that anyone he could beat on the bar table, he could give the 8 or more and win. Now we can agree with him or not on this, but, that is just his pride and mentality about the game talking. IMO, anyone giving Dave, ANYTHING on a bar box, has more than their hands full. The man has too much pride and someone could have the firght of the century on their hands. It could be very intresting though.

Willie-

I think you need to do a search on McNuggets posts & see the tone he has taken. Obviously, before you posted, you did not.

Just because Corey is a great player doesn't justify the actions of his so called stakehorse, Jamey McNugget. Unfortunately Willie, you are a great guy yourself but seem to fall into this line of thinking.

W,
Nahhh; I've read all of the posts. I find precious little civility on either side. I never said any of the discourse was polite; and I did not try to "justify his actions". You are quite correct in your assessment of the impolite tenor of the threads. I just wanted to give props to JM for trying at least (giving props for this is NOT the same as saying they are a candidate for the Miss Manners Award). No one has accepted the original proposal; and no one should criticize Corey for not accepting the counter-proposals (which are transparent in their attempt to gain even more advantage than that contained in the original offer).

I don't think I fall into either line of thinking; I just would like to see a match-up. A great road player told me he thinks Dave Matlock is the best bar table player ever - it would be great to see him in action.

Matchup

I would think a match of this dollar size would have a neutral racker agreed upon by both Dave and Corey, it would be the only way to do it, IMO.

Considering that Dave has run 28 consecutive racks of 9 ball on a bar table, I think I would bet on him, and he told me this himself after I asked him his record.

Willie--again, you are falling into McNugget's trap of twisted thinking. There is not 'both sides' as David or anyone representing David has said a word, typed a word or agreed to anything. Jamey Martin is simply a friend of Matlock's, stating if you want to match up with Matlock then call him DIRECTLY himself. Seems pretty simple. When Dan Tull or Matlock come on here & type some words then you can speak about either side. And if you ever would see Dan Tull or Matlock act with precious little civility, I can imagine that there would be an extreme reason for it because in 20 years, I haven't seen it by either one of them. McNugget, on the other hand, needs to take a deep breath......and then just hold it til he turns blue.

At least you got the part right about Matlock being the best bar table ever.

'chez,
Definitely simple (and your points are right on).

It still seems in the nature of an open challenge for the challenger to do the calling (if they want the cash); I don't believe the initial challenge was directed specifically at Dave; he is just one of many "American players" eligible for the spot.

P.S. - I did not say there was no civility on the thread, I only commented on the amount. I think it is obvious to all readers who has been civil and who is not.:) :)

28 sounds pretty fishy. People don't seem to track consecutive racks as carefully as high runs in straight pool but I've never heard such a number... the fact that it came from the guy it's attributed to makes it less likely to be real, not more likely (no offense, just better to have outside confirmation... if he really did run it, my apologies for questioning it. It's just such a scary number).

You don't know how scary good David was and is when he hit the scene.
I watched his first matchup here in Wichita playing Jr. Brown 7 ahead for
$700. Jr. got one shot the whole match, and he missed that. During that match, David made a 1/2" jump shot for the 3 with a FULL CUE, made the 3 in the side, and drew back 4-5" for shape on the 4. I was the only railbird allowed to watch the match.

He doesn't have the reputation for being the best Barbox player ever for nothing!!!

It has been arumor for quite a few years. In fact, it was supposed to have happened in Ponca City Ok. in a ring game. In this instance, it is a good thing I wasn't the third in the ring game or he would not have been given a chance to run 28. I'm not gonna rack 28 consecutive games of anything.

I've never heard of 28 before, but have heard of some outrageous #'s on the bar box. I think, if memory serves, Grady ran 17 or 18 on the bar box one time.

Info on 10 ball at Olathe????

Need some additional info on the 10 ball happening at Shooter in Olathe. I tried calling and their phone goes into a fax mode (913-780-5740).

I think it is on the 20th (Friday?) and is a ring game format???

Thanks,
