The way it really went down

I think that most of us "translated" with no problem

I thought I did state in my posts that what I relayed was hearsay, but maybe I did not make that clear. Of course, I was not there.

I probably should have been more generous with my quotation marks in my replies.

Never said any blood was shed or medics were present. The "100 cops" "6'8" Samoan" comments is what was stated to me. I apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding this may have caused you or anybody else.

Thanks for the eyewitness account and for correcting the error of my ways, JCIN. You're the best!

JAM,

I think most of us translated with no problem. "Scott showed up with a gorilla to lean on Dave a little in a public place and it was blatant enough that a lot of heat was called in to cool things." It is all relative and we were all aware you were relaying information. Big is always in the eye of the beholder. Years ago I lived in an area where many of the pro wrestlers lived. I'd seen one of the smaller looking ones in the ring for years. When I bumped into him in a local store I was surprised to find he was half a head taller than my 6'-2". He wasn't nearly that big on TV! :D :D :D

All right, I'm going to chime in here. At this moment as I write this Billy is in the process of trying to negotiate a deal with Dave. A settlement needs to be made so all parties can move on. The reality is that a debt like this cannot be just swept under the rug. Some air barrels won't fly if you get my drift. Scott used bad judgement in doing what he did last night. It may have been a combination of alcohol and anger that made him do it. And that is a volatile mixture every time. Billy is trying to work it out now and resolve things. If anyone can it's him. There is a reason why Billy is one of the most respected men in the gambling world. All top gamblers know who Pittsburgh Billy is! That's all I'm willing to say for now.

You know, the same thing happened to me when I met Sonny Jurgensen, former QB of the Redskins. I thought he was a giant of a man, from seeing him on TV, and in person, he was lean and trim and short. He didn't fit the stereotype of a football player at all. Those were the days when the Redskins shined brightly. I miss me some Sonny! :)

Oh, that will be wonderful. Great news! :)

Then we can have closure to the thread:

"And they lived happily ever after. The End."

OK then, let's all hold our breath until 5 dimes magically appear.

You start first, mmmkay?

KK9 <-- hoping it works out fair & some people become better folk for this entire shenanigan

BUT, do you think the pool players who are shooting for the big cheese would enjoy it all the same if there was not one living soul who knew about it? Is part of the allure of these high-stakes games the attention they receive from the community? I have often wondered about this.

It is all about the money, action, winning, or do you believe there are other factors?

It's one thing to be in it for the glory.
I think it's another thing to be in it for the money.
But either way, it's hard to hide big gambling anymore.

Problem is, in this day and age, it's a miracle anyone can have any type of privacy anymore.
Too many spies with cell phones and internet connections.

It's not like the old days where you could make a huge score and smile as no one else had a clue about it.

Absolutely true! Look what happened to that poor girl in your avatar, and that was over a bet for lunch!

The ceaser salads should have been up on the light. :)

Next time...

Best,
Brian kc

Getting between JCIN and lunch is not even close to a $50k bet! After all, it's only money!

I wasn't going to post in this thread at all. Saw no reason to....until now. I realized that posting in this thread is about as close to a $50K bet that I am going to get to. So, now, when anyone asks if I ever bet large, I can at least say that I once posted in an AZB thread about $50K! (that's kinda like saying I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, right???)

"Glory" is a good word. I know my SO seems to play better when he's got the audience attention. It is the fuel that ignites his pool engine, so to speak.

In the movie, "The Hustler," Fast Eddie played some guy at his house in a private game. He didn't do as well there as he did in the public pool room with Willie racking 'em. :grin-square:

Fast Eddie looked like he was in it for the glory, and Minnesota Fast (Jackie Gleason) was in it solely for the cheese. That's the movies, of course, but there's a ring of truth in it.

I guess there's pros and cons to each setting -- private and public -- for engaging in challenge matches of this sort.

That your little girl? My opinion is that she looks adorable!!!

As for this nonsense I agree but it's already on here do it's open for discussion. First of all it shouldn't be on here. Secondly this all needs to handled privately among all those concerned. Thirdly, in my opinion the people involved need to take it down a notch before someone gets hurt really bad.

From the first post the thing I wondered about was this:

A payer is required to issue you a Form W-2G (PDF) if you receive certain gambling winnings or if you have any gambling winnings subject to Federal income tax withholding. All gambling winnings must be reported

I got that from the IRS website which indicates to me they do indeed have the internet.

Probably better to keep it private but now that it's public if somebody gets hurt at least the authorities know who the suspect(s) are but I doubt it will get that far.

This is some pretty serious shit that is going down and I would think that if you werent there or are not involved all of you railbirds need to keep your opinion and your illusions of what happened to yourself. JMO.

I don't agree with you here, Billy. Normally I wouldn't post in a thread like this, but I thought I should try to support Lenny to help him get paid. If nobody posted to the thread but those involved, there would be three posts and no point in having a public discussion. I don't think our discussion heated things up any worse than they already were.

What it did do is show there are some hard feelings on both sides and a huge discrepancy in the story. It's obviously best for all involved if a settlement is reached but that takes meaningful discussion. Sometimes people have to vent a little to reach that point.

I thought Billy Incardona handled himself very well here and I believe that if anybody can come to a meaningful conclusion with this, he can.

True but the flipside is - as this thread proves again - you can't get away with the big stiff either without the world knowing about it.

after reading every post in this thread, the thing I find hardest to believe is that Justin is NOT 8'2"...lol

This is also assuming that everything is on the up and up.

Seen my fair share of "legitimate" stories turn out to be completely false.

Far as i am concerned, i can see it going any which way.

You seem like one of those few people who are unable to simply accept that shit happens, and instead have chosen to blame it on the game itself. The world isn't a perfect place, and sometimes, confrontations occur. It doesn't just happens in our sport. It's in all sports; in all facets of life.

Accept it.

Most members on here are trying to sort this out. All you're doing is complaining about it.

Nathan,

Were you not aware that sub-acceptable human behavior and gambling are exclusive only to pool? In all other sports or games all those stories you hear about gambling, throwing games, people being unsportsmanlike, people being killed over foul deals...those are all myths. Everyone knows that all human evil is thankfully concentrated ONLY on the game of pool and the people who play it. So all you have to do to be a good person is abstain from this wicked game, and you're all set.

We can agree to disagree. Its all fun and games until someone gets hurt and this thread with all of these clowns chiming in with what they think happened and who is and isnt at fault WILL NOT get this resolved. They are just spreading rumor and gossip and if anything will cause more problems. I hope that they get it squared away too, but if they do it wont be because of anything that you or I said in this thread.

Since this thread seem to be catching a lot of attention today -- well over 3,500 hits and counting since 5 a.m., EST, this morning -- I might as well disseminate this little freebie.

Tomorrow, July 11th, is the birthday of 7-Eleven Convenience Stores. For one day only, tomorrow, July 11th, they are giving out FREE Slurpees, 7.11 ounces, to all customers. In the heat of the summer, why not enjoy a free Slurpee!
