New Mexico Man Is Set On Fire by His Friends After Losing Drinking Bet
Published July 10, 2010
| Associated Press

A 47-year-old man's friends set his prosthetic leg on fire after he lost a drinking bet, causing him to suffer severe burns to his buttocks and lower back. Dona Ana County sheriff's deputies found the man naked on the side of U.S. Route 70 with his prosthetic leg in flames. Deputies learned that the man and his friends were drinking Monday and bet that whoever drank the least would be set on fire.

The man told investigators that at six beers, he drank the least, and agreed to let his friends set him on fire.

He said his friends ignited his prosthetic leg, and the flames spread to his body.

The sheriff's office said the man took his clothes off because of the pain and his friends decided to take him to the hospital. But they got nervous and instead dropped him off on the side of the highway.

LOL! I'm actually a little nervous about Keith woofing these days. He's got a stash of select cheese that I'm hoping he will let age. Don't let his words and demeanor fool you. He would like for people to think he's a broke dog, mainly to prevent the bites, but he's actually doing okay. He's in a good spot right now.

Ah, cheese, beautiful cheese! :lovies:

YES hang on to the COM cheese. Maybe he could come out with a new line of very STIFF hitting cues and tips.

Will the Frost gang get paid?

What will happen to the Tahoe?

Can the Samoan collect the cash?

Will Bill Incardona make a match for big bucks?

And what really happened with Dippy D’s metro sexual feelings?

Stay tuned for “As the cue ball rolls through the days of our lives.”

I think someone needs to take the Tahoe and drive it down an LA freeway and the 100 coppers can chase him.

At least he didn't get stiffed.

It IS the right time of year for it...15 years later. Of course, it wouldn't be right if it's not a white Bronco. And don't forget the news choppers...

That's some sick shit there!

When I was about 12, my dad took me to work with him at an oil company tanker yard. The river was at flood stage and they kept water pumped into the empty tanks to keep them from floating away in the flood. My Dad's buddy had a wooden leg which I didn't know about. They set me up for a shocker when a fly kept landing on his prosthetic and he stabbed himself in the leg with an ice pick going after the fly. I still have memories of that moment, 48 years ago, like it was yesterday! lol

And how about this little nugget that just published July 9th:

Harrah’s Entertainment may soon settle with a gambler who lost more than $127 million in one year.

The world record for a losing streak goes to Terrence Watanabe, who racked up a more than $127 million dept during a gambling run in 2007 at Caesars Palace while living in the casino. In the state of Nevada, an unpaid gambling debt is a criminal matter, and Watanabe refused to pay his, claiming that Harrah’s employees kept him gambling while plied with drugs and alcohol.

An agreement was announced on Thursday, however, with $14.7 million yet unpaid. The agreement is for both parties to forgo criminal lawsuits while working to resolve the balance of the debt.

Terrence Watanabe found his fortune selling his Oriental Trading Co business.

See? Settlements can be made if both parties are open-minded and amenable to solutions. ;)

I'd have bet the guy with the wooden leg would have drank the most. :grin-square:

I guess there really are no sure bets. ;)

I would have a lock on this one, remembering that the Buddist Monks that set themselves on fire in Vietnam did not drink at all.

J is always looking for an edge. :)

are you enjoying yourself??

Arguing the bad hit was a good move on Dave's part, like you said anytime that a player can get an edge he does.. just like wetting the balls or putting things on the balls..same thing..just trying to get an edge--which is really just saying if you can get away with cheating then you do it.

I remember you, we had differences about a year ago on another thread. I believe it was about Keith McCreedy and you had something negative to say back then. You seem to enjoy twisting things to suit what you want people to hear, even if it is at the expense of others.
Above you said that I said ” ANYTIME THAT A PLAYER CAN GET AN EDGE HE DOES “ Well you misquoted me once again, if you look at the original post #199 I said “ PLAYERS WILL TAKE AN EDGE IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY” Now does that sound like ANYTIME that a player can get an edge he does?? That one word ANYTIME that you decided to throw in there:confused: changed the meaning of the statement. And then at the end of your misleading post you said that my reference to that was the same as saying IF YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH CHEATING YOU DO IT. Once again you changed the message to suit your self for what ever reason. I would never condone cheating as you said I did, and everything is in front of you to reread in post # 199. The message clearly explains how to protect yourself from being cheated.

I believe you owe me an apology

I keep seeing this picture of the Viffer or the Dipper or the Dumpster or whatever he's called today, running down the street with a burning cue in his hands. The flames are all over him and he still won't let go of that cue. Now that's a dedicated pool player. :help:

Actually, your post 199 is an excellent lesson for all concerned who want to play experienced gamblers. The more you play, the more you realize that there are many ways to gain an edge. It's not just game and table and cueball, but rules, terms and conditions. Plus a player has to protect himself to keep matters fair.

In the situation with Dave, I wonder if he would take those few disputed games and clear them up with a re-set? Say both post the 50K and give Dippy back the 4 or 5 games he feels are in dispute.

Whatever - it's just a suggestion as a way of both sides compromising. I think it's a really big longshot but giving him back some games may clear the air.

There has been some jovial humor in this thread but $50,000 is a large amount of money and it really is serious business. I hope we have learned from Palestine and Israel how not to negotiate.
