Unhappy with Edwin Reyes

Does the cue even have ivory in it? I think that is still an unkown. Regardless, Edwin is not a stupid man (I don't know this for sure) but he should know better than to build a cue with ivory to settle this bet. He ships cues all over and knows what the deal is. He is 17 months passed the amount of time he said he needed the cue has supposedly been done for a year. NO EXCUSE. No one is that busy or has that many unforseen problems (according to him) that you can't put a cue in the mail for 17 months. Pay up Edwin - the man deserves his winnings (cue).

I agree with you. In case my post was unclear, what I meant was that there was most likely NO change in the challenges of shipping since the bet was made. In other words, if there were challenges, he probably would have known before hand due to having gone though this before, and could have said, "hey, it could take me a really long time to get this thing shipped.. are you sure you want to make the bet still?".

Even if something had changed, 18 months is waaay more than enough time to figure out a solution. It should never have to come to this point. Just my opinion.

so it was an Ivory laden cue after all. wonder why it took so long for you guys to settle the specifics of the cue and the shipping?

didn't bother to answer PM (maybe the bandit is busy), didn't bother to call the "Bandit" (maybe calling long distance to P.I. is really a pain). oh well, you guys should had made some quick and necessary alternatives for the deal be settled more than a year ago. 18 months is really a long time and enough time for you to save some money on buying 3-4 $850 custom cues. what I'm saying is....both of you did nothing to settle the deal quickly.
Note to Self: With this type of attitude, include Hail Mary Shot on the do not pratonage list.

Guess this thread should end now.:D
Yes, Bruce, it should.
Edwin apologized and offered a recourse already.
Now, it's up to Shane to continue this thread in a few days if he does not hear from Edwin.

You're right. I apologize to both parties for posting about it after that. Let's give them a chance to resolve it now.

I have emailed Edwin at the email address he gave in this thread.

Hopefully I will get a response from him soon and get a commitment from him with respect to how and when I will receive the cue.

I will post in this thread again when a solution has been reached.

Thanks for all the feedback from everyone who has posted in this thread and also those that sent me PM's

IF a person has good documentation that the ivory used was PRE BAN ivory then it would help his case with Customs i would assume..

You cannot import or export ivory to and from this country, period.

Apparently to try to avoid a constant flow of illegal ivory, if you move preban ivory in or out of a country it is no longer legal. For example, I can't send the half-pound of preban ivory I own to Edwin, have him make me a cue and ship the cue back to me. At least I can't legally do that, silly as it seems. It would become illegal ivory when it left the US, had it not been illegal then it would still have been illegal upon entry into the US. Crazy as it sounds I can sometimes buy mammoth ivory cheaper than legal elephant ivory.

how 'bout a double or nothing bet on the upcoming IPT match between Marlon Manalo (bandido) and Rodney Morris (shanesinnott) to settle this issue?:)

Not cool!

Edwin just send the cue! If it get lost or damaged deal with it then. Fulfill your end of the bargain.
Believe me I love to and have searched for ways. Sending with knowledge of a higher risk of losing it is foolish so an alternate plan was offered to Shane and hopefully all will go well.

I appreciate the concern for fellow posters displayed. I fully understand that some circumstances, nuances of the trade at a global scale, involving this is hard to fathom.

Not a single cue on FeeBay lists ivory inlays or joints etc. That has got to smart quite a bit for the starving Philippino cue makers. I once had a Vhante cue I got from someone else that said when it was first imported it looked like a pure ebony black cue. After 2 minutes of wiping it with an alcohol soaked rag, it transformed into an attractive amboyna and ivory loaded cue. After 1 year in Colorado's dry climate it turned into a pretzel. That cue was kind of funny like that. It kept changing.:D :D

Oh really. Let me get a Vhante Amboyna cue when it gets posted. I will start rubbing it and hopefully it turns into liquid gold. :D :D :D
