Warning to the Male BCA players visiting Las Vegas

Hey JCin,

Not true. Ask Joe Blackburn. Someone stole his entire trailer out of the Riv parking lot a couple of years ago. The Riv claimed they have no surveillance in the parking lot or garages. In that one instance, I believe them!

Also don't expect much assisance from the "police" force at the Riv. Their number one job is not hindering business in any way. What happens at the Riv, stays at the Riv. Simply said, pay attention to your location and your situation. Nothing is as it seems in Vegas.

While driving in Vegas remember one important statistic. There are more undocumented, unlicensed drivers in Vegas than anywhere else. It is also a 24 hour drinking town. Pay attention!!!!!!!

Maybe I am different than some people but I dont expect a hotel or a cop or anyone else to look out for my well being. I figure I am a big boy and should be able to survive a trip to a Vegas strip hotel without too much trauma.

It sucks that Joe's stuff got jacked in a place that didnt have cameras. I know people who have had similar things happen all over the country. I just think the chicken little sky is falling stuff is a little dramatic.

Seriously. Pay attention to what the hell is going on around you and you will be fine. If you dont you could get in trouble. Just like any major city on the planet.

Good advice for the reverse to - women should not accept opened beer from men they don't know (as an example) b/c it could be spiked.

Damn, so much for trying that one on you my fine friend, you are too street wise for old tricks:eek::eek: Just Kidding!!!

Everyone should always be careful and have their guard up in any big party place like LV, New Orleans and many, many others.

A friend of mine once got a sweet one niter in New Orleans with a hottie that only cost him 11k, a new Rolex, a thick gold rope necklace, and a nasty bump on the noggin:cool::cool:

Everyone going to Vegas, have fun and get back home safely.

Paying close attention, of course assumes that you have all (or most) of your faculties which, unfortunately, ain't gonna be the case for those who are planning to party some.

Best,

Scammers @ the Riv.

Two years ago we are at the Riv for BCA. Guy comes up to us with a sob story about needing a serpentine belt for his truck, tells us he is in the tournament, from the midwest, like us (WI) and even shows us a quote on a piece of paper for what it would cost. My buddy loans him $50 and scammer takes down my buddys contact info and swears he will get it back. My buddy never hears a thing. Next year, we are out for the BCA again. We are down at the Wynn walking around and guess who comes up to us? Same guy, same sob story and same fake bill for the serpentine belt, what are the odds? So we call the guy on it and I tell him he is lucky we are not outside the Wynn or his ass would be beat. He walks away very quickly and disapears into the crowd. So beware of this piece of shit at the Riv and if you have him give you this story please punch him in the head!!!!

I agree with you Jason, I grew up in Miami, Florida and I would rather take my chances on the Las Vegas strip rather than Liberty City or Goulds Park when I was a kid. Like everyone is saying, there are dangerous places everywhere, just ask Joey Gray who was robbed on the way to taking out his trash.

Just pay attention and remember there is strenth in numbers.

I would suggest that one should stay with a group or at least a friend that way at least one of you may maintain some common sense.

Leaves almost all my friends out....most of them don't have much sense...guess that's why we get along so well...lol:D

I love these stories, and the one were their kid needs insulin, or the hysterical woman needs money for a bus. I usually like to ask these grifters about sixty questions and then give them anywhere from 2 to 10 bucks depending on the effort of their tale:thumbup::thumbup:

A buddy of mine got took for 20 in Chicago one night and I just watched this older women put the smooth criminal move on him about needing bus fare, he was so mad. I just laughed and gave him 10 to ease the pain. What are friends for, anyway:D:D

Take your cheapest car there, and fit an alarm and club. Wear your cheapest most worn clothes, and show no obvious signs of wealth (e.g. jewelery). Pay for everything in cash. Don't shower or clean your teeth = keep the hookers away. Consider wearing a bullet vest and maybe even head protection. Limit yourself to 2 drinks a day, and never allow a stranger to buy you a drink. Take all your valuables with you, including to the bathroom. Lock your valuables away that you left in your hotel room. Openly carry a firearm.
You'll be fine :)

I am just going to guess you don't run into too much trouble Troy, unless automatic weapons are involved:D:D

Not too much these days...im my 20's was a different story...my eyesight must be getting worse with age....i just can't find it like i use to..:D

I posted this story a few weeks back, thought this thread was appropriate.

My buddy was drugged at a Strip Club in Vegas a few years back. He went for a dance and came back about 30 minutes later. The stripper came up to me and said, "your buddy owes me $400". I started laughing and said "what the hell just happened".

He was totally messed up and just standing there (barely). I asked for his ATM card and she held it up. Before I could finish asking him for his Pin number, she blared out "1234" (or whatever it was). Something was definitely up. The bouncer was standing over us with the crazy look ready to pounce.

Just then to our luck, a fight broke out on the other side of the stage. The second they were distracted, I put my arm up the back of my buddies shirt and bolted out the door. We booked down the street for a mile or so before finally hailing a cab. I had to drag him most of the way.

I have no idea what was in his drink, but whatever it was hit him very hard and quick.

The next day he got a call from his bank that there were 19 tries on his ATM card starting at $1900, $1800.... all the way down to $200 or so. They put a hold on the card early on and just monitored it. Good thing my buddy had nothing in that account.

Sorry this was a little off topic, but I wouldn't put anything past money hungry a-holes.

Scams and scammers are everywhere in Vegas. Taxi drivers automatically take "tourists" from the airport the long way to their hotel. Upscale restaurants pad their bills (look for the extra entree or extra drinks), especially if you've been drinking. If you Valet park your car, leave nothing of value inside. They can and do check trunks and glove boxes. You may encounter someone walking who claims to be broke and needs to sell either his "gold" ring, "gold" chain or his "Rolex" watch. Don't buy any of this crap, even for $20.

There's more but this will give you an idea of how "scam city" operates. Also, be extra careful when gambling. Always be aware of where your cup full of quarters is when playing slots. Someone will distract you, while their accomplice steals it. Same goes for purses, one of the most popular types of thievery around the slot areas. Be careful who stands next to you at a dice table. You must protect your chips in the rack. Same goes for someone who sits down next to you at a Blackjack table. Never take your cue stick to the bar and set it down ANYWHERE! Bye bye cue!

Do you want me to go on? DONT' GET INVOLVED WITH STRANGERS! They are not your friends! Every year MANY people get robbed and killed in hotel rooms. It is one of Vegas' best kept secrets. Parking structures are also good places to get robbed. Walk in pairs! And be extra careful crossing the strip, especially at night. The street is full of drunk drivers. Someone was killed last year in front of the RIV, crossing from the MacDonalds! And finally, in case you didn't know, the downtown area is dangerous at night. Don't go alone!

P.S. One more - the Strip clubs are the worst rip off joints in the world. All of them! If you must have sex, go to an Asian massage parlor. It will cost you $100-150 but you won't get ripped off. Even there you must negotiate.

After reading all of this i'm not sure I want to go back to LV. The last time I was there I went by myself to the BCA trade show and it sounds like I was lucky to get out of there safely with my wallet. I like LV, but after a few trips it doesn't have the attraction it did the first few times I went there. I don't think i'll ever go back by myself again......

LOL @ what all these stories have in common:

I was...(with/around/approached by)...a...(hooker/stripper/panhandler)....and I was....(drunk/horny/stupid)....and something bad happened.

I cant wait for May in Vegas so we have some new stories. It is gonna be cool.

Im just a broke poolplayer with a walmart cue so I should be fine. ;)

Seriousely though everyone be careful and have fun.

What about the hooker you dumped on Koop at the bar?

Scott

Oh, the old Russian hooker?

You mean, when she was trying to work me and I introduced Koop to her, then slid him into my chair and walked away?

Eric >hopes Koop still likes me

HaHa...reminds me of this old local pool player that use to ride his bicycle to all tourney's... some where in some real hell holes..Whenever someone would ask him if he thought that was wise that he might get robbed...He'd say...If they rob me all they gonna get is practice !!! lol:D

Every time you turn around, someone is offering to give you free tickets for some attraction 30 bucks.

J Bird, who's gonna mess with you? Godzilla?

Jay, my friend has been a bouncer at a major downtown Chicago bar. He is probably about 235 pounds. He was in the subway and a punk kid ran up and grabbed his Blackberry out of his hand. He chased the kid down, grabbed it back and kicked him as hard as he could right in the nuts. It might have been some type of gang initiation or something. The kicker to the story is he drug the kid up to the attendant and they wouldn't even call the police. My point is anyone can be a victim no matter what their size especially if someone has a gun or knife.

About 3 weeks ago, another friend was trying to break up a fight. He was attacked. They broke his jaw. He fell and hit his head on pavement. 8 days later he finally opened his eyes. Still in ICU today.

Last week, a cop was ran over by a car. His partner opened fire on the car.
He was in ICU.

Only this week, a couple of 20 year olds were hit with ball bats and robbed. They are in ICU.

3 out of 4 happened within a 3 blocks of each other in Chicago.

Crime can and does happen. It is a violent world and getting worse with the bad economy. People are getting more and more desperate.

I love Vegas to a point and have had a lot of fun there, but I have no disallusions. I see Vegas for what it really is: A big pile of steaming hot dog sh*t covered in glitter!
