Why do you have even have that POS chucked into your lathe?

.
my thoughts exactly
i told the guy some of them werent worth fixing,
when you can buy a cheap ass house cue for $7.00 at watsons
but......................
the customer is always right :rolleyes:

Maybe the softer copper nail did not last , so upgraded to a steel one.
It probably is holding the tenon repair into the shaft as well.
Great post, Thanks for the entertainment Brent.

Yeah I've seen a bunch of those around. I was once told that there was a guy who worked for one of the pool table service companies who did this when the ferrule was loose. I guess the nail also causes the tenon to expand slightly and make a loose ferrule tighter also.

You need to teach your wife to keep her ferrule cleaner.....:grin::grin::grin:
How you doing buddy?:smile:

Yup, just like an axe handle fitting into the axe head. :p

Instead of "Lee Press-on Nails," we now have "Lee[Pro] Nail-on Tips." :p

picked up a cue at a pawn shop;

an older plain jane joss. no butt plate. bad wrap. great looking curly maple! the ferrule was some concoction of apparently silicone caulking built up to the shape of a ferrule with a tip glued on top- no nails!. gave $29 for the cue then $100 for rewrap, new ferrule/tip and a great job on a new buttpiece/bumper. shuddered a bit when i first saw the shape the cue was in but it does look good now. a local guy here in the Hickory area, tim monk,did himself proud on it.
