What is the most over used word that you hear in the pool world the mosT!

''PERFECT''

Especially when a color commentator gets on a roll using that word constantly.
Makes me gag, and mute the audio.

F**k. I agree with the person above. If that word weren't already taken, that's what pool would be called.
:p

For the most overused word in pool, I'll offer "should" as in:

1) I "should" have made that shot
2) I "should" have run out
3) I "should" have won that match

After skids or balls rolling off or freakishly bad luck, I guess such a comment can be dealt with, but these comments tend to be heard after one has failed due to poor execution.

As a late teen, I used to often practice with a top pro named Jack Colavita. I recall that if I said "I should have made that shot" to him, he would typically reply "no you shouldn't have, not when you hit it thay bad." Now, I'll have to admit that at first this comment rubbed me the wrong way, but it finally dawned on me that he was right.

After making a poor stroke, why on earth would one feel they should have made the shot? Constrastingly, after failing, one might say "I expected to make that shot" and be within the boundaries of logic, as this refers to the moments prior to the stroke. The thing is, with rare exception, nobody partcularly cares what you expectations were, so it's best to remain silent.

If you failed due to poor execution, you "should" have failed.

"Goodshot"

Hear it all the time when someone makes a tough shot...that was taken coz he was out of line...and after making said tuff shot...he remains out of line. :slap:

Which part was good?

Ever notice that some people will say 'goodshot' if you make a shot that
was indeed 'good', but you don't get position?
If you make a shot that is equally 'good', but it's a game winner.....
....couldn't pry their mouth open with a crowbar...

Boy you are dead on with this saying,i have notice this everywhere i have played, people acking like they are being nice, but soon as they see they are going to lose,no more good shot!

Did it really make it to page 3 before someone mentioned an obvious one?

LUCKY!

How many times do I hear how lucky I was to have made a shot (one that I've practiced in drills a million times)... or how lucky I am after beating a guy 7-2 in a race ... or how unlucky he was because he missed such an easy shot on the 4, etc etc etc...

So many people think this game is like tossing dice instead of realizing it is a matter of good fundamentals, experience, and practice.

Got a couple for you

in league play, "sandbagging" (APA's my league)

i have a 3 on one of my teams who never loses, she just gets sandbagged. honey, the 6 beat you 'cause he shoots better pool than you do, not 'cause he's... sandbagging... as a 6... out of 7. who would sandbag to be a 6? i mean, really?

everywhere else, "really."

not as a question, even. Just that. Really. That's what you're doing now. That's. Awesome. Really.
