What size pool table do you own?

Every dealer I go to is usually pushing 7' and 8' tables and when I asked about oversized 8' and 9' they act like they've never sold one. So I'm just wondering how many of you have tables larger than 8' and what brand? On the Olhausen website they carry plenty of 9' tables and even some oversized 8', but the dealers around here don't sell them.

When I ask about 9' tables they say most people don't have the room for them. My room is 23' by 15', which is plenty big, although some people say 15' isn't wide enough. If you do the math, a 9' table is 50" wide and you use 58" cue sticks from both sides. In the rare case that you are shooting in a motion perpendicular to the rail, with the ball frozen to the rail, with the cue stick perfectly horizontal then you would need a minimum of 166" or 13'10". I never play on anything but 9' tables, so I don't really want anything smaller.

Picked up a used oversized 8 brunswick. Fortunatly my room is more than large enough for it, or even a 9 :( I'd prefer the nine, maybe sometime in the future, as of now the 8 is great to practice though and transition to a 9 isn't difficult, don't really notice to be honest

9 ft --- my room is about the same as yours (room was designed/sized around the table). Brand - small builder out of Phoenix who died several years ago and business is not longer.

i have an Olhausen 9 foot Augusta...you state around here where is around here? Olhausen is a great company i don't see why your local dealer wouldn't order one for you..i would think if Olhausen found out that the dealer didn't want to handle an item that they wouldn't be too happy..call Olhausen factory and tell them i'll bet you will get the table you want..i really like my table..good luck...:)

I finished my attic for the sole purpose of a billiard room. I have a 9' diamond pro :-) Love every minute of it!

9ft table. Brunswick GC 3 got it used. My game room is 30x28. I want to add a full bar. I added a texas holdem table in november.

The Albany, NY area. I'm gonna go check out another place tomorrow and mention the 9' tables on their website.

9 ft Diamond Pro.

My room is 17' x 28' so I have plenty of room.

When you are adding up the inches necessary for a 9ft table don't forget to add in room to swing the stick. Sorry.

So that's 50 + 116 + 8" per side swing room = 182"

Well.... you' d have maybe 7 1/2 swing room with a full length stick. You could get the 9 ft and use a shorter cue if necessary. Or take out the drywall?

I have a 9 foot table, the narrowest part of my room is 15'01", even on frozen to the rail shots at 90 degrees there is room to play. Phil Capelle's "Play Your Best Pool" states that 14'10" is good for a 9 footer with 6 inches to swing. I don't usually swing that far on rail shots anyway, I've had no problems.

9ft. But then I wake up every morning & it's gone. Damn those dreams!!!!!

cuejoey has a 9ft? That's it. I'm heading to his house!:D

8ft right now, building a custom 9ft out of purpleheart. It is a mission style table with brunswick slate. I cant wait to get it done. Chris.

Your building your own? Do you have pictures? Would love to see it especially the purple heart. Was thinking about using purple heart for a mantle piece - can get some I think from a hardwood place down the road aways (bought all my oak trim for the house from them).

Keep in mind that you're probably gonna want some furniture in the room with the table (like spectator chairs, bar tables, etc.). That 15' room IS big enough for the nine-footer as long as you put all of your furniture at the ends of your table. Just somethin' to think about.
BTW, I have a Brunswick Bradford standard 4'x8' in a 19'x15' 6" room. I have four spectator chairs and two tall bar tables. It all fits pretty good but if I'm doin' any serious shootin', I hafta move one of the tables into the kitchen for more room.

A dealer typically would not order "1" table but that same dealer could add a special order table to his regular order from the manufacturer. It's all about freight costs. Years ago when we sold Kasson tables an order of 30 tables qualified for free shipping so I'm sure similar incentives are offered by other manufacturers. If the customer is willing to wait there's no reason not to put a 9 footer on the truck along with the rest of the order.

9 ft. Diamond ProAm (originally an IPT table from Reno).
Replaced Gorina cloth w/ Simonis 860 (Tournament Blue).
Replaced pocket facings to Diamonds standard pro cut taper (4-9/16" at the gate and 4-1/4" at the drop).
Diamond did all the modifications before shipping to me.

I would not suggest going to a local billiard store to get your table as the salespeople you'll deal with will most likely not be avid pool players. They believe most people only need 7 or 8 foots because they look at pool as mere recreation.

If you are serious about pool and want a good playing table, call and talk with the builder of the table. Diamond is excellent for this. They will actually cater to your every need and give you what you want. And more times than not, you'll pay just as much or even less, than if you went with a local dealer (9 foot).

But if you are inclined to go through a local dealer, get what you want, in fact demand it. If you don't, you'll regret it every time you play on it. Olhausen has a nice line of tables for reasonable prices. Although, I would recommend the single rail construction tables. Even Brunswicks are nice, they just tend to be a little more expensive. Don't settle, because in the end you are the one that is paying for it. To them, it is just another sale.

Good luck.
