What would be the ultimate 1 Pocket match?

A few years ago I got a surprise when I did a one pocket Challenge match with Scott Frost and Efren at how many people came to the event and how many bought the DVD.
So Just recently I was looking to have a rematch with Scott and Efren but he had to leave today so there was no chance to do it. So it got me thinking, since 1 Pocket is maybe a more purist game and a smaller % of fans obviously than 8-ball lets say. What would be the ultimate 1 pocket match that people would love to see?

I have a couple of thoughts.

Keith McCready vs Earl or Alex P or Scott

Scott Vs Efen or Shane or obviously Efren

What are your thoughts?

Nick Varner (old school) vs. Scott Frost (Power One Pocket - New school)

The secret is huge contrast of styles IMO.

Keith playing anything will be entertaining, but I the exact line I hear about Keith playing one pocket is he makes Tony Chohan look like he plays conservative. (He shoots at everything.)

Ken

PS. My favorite current one pocket player is Chris Gentile from Chicago. Very solid player, no obvious weaknesses. IF Nick is unavailable he would be my second pick for old school (style) player.

It was just played over the weekend, Efren vs Shane. If that can't sell tickets, nothing will.

Lock n Load vs Scott Frost or any of them ,but nobody wants to play Lock...why is that ?

Scott Frost
Alex P.
SVB
Efren.

Round robin format, $1k a rack. Play till only one guy has money left in his pocket.

Yes, with a little better showing from Frost. I'd pay to see a rematch.

I suspect Frost would be up for it if it were played on a Diamond table. He was trying to play precision-power-one-pocket on an imprecise table. I think Alex realized the table's "limitations" and played a more conservative, conventional game.

A One Pocket Scotch Doubles match would be interesting. I mean what's the point of a doubles 9-ball game ala Mosconi Cup? How many choices are there to discuss with your partner? "Pocket the 3-ball and leave me shape on the....you guessed it: 4-ball." :D

Easy Fix...,

Cliff vs Alex - Frost vs SVB

how about a team event for big money so it wont get friendly?

Buddy & Nick vs Dalton & SVB

Scott Frost vs Alex P.
Efren vs Anyone
Scott vs SVB
SVB vs Corey
Scott vs Joey Gray

Lots of good matches out there. I think anyone who has placed in the top 16 at the Derby should battle it out in a tournament. Just because I love one pocket. Lol.

Maybe that's because he knows how to pocket balls and prefers one-pocket today to the luck game that 9-ball has become.

FWIW, his shot-making strategy is the *exact* same in 9-ball as it is in one-hole. He's always shot that way because his arsenal of shots is more weighty than the one-trick ponies of today's pool world.

one pocket

I would pay for a good scotch doulble match scott and Shannon vs ocho and shane

I think Frost vs Efren in a race to 20 over 2 days but if no Efren then Alex or Shane for sure against Frost with Jeremy Jones commentating.

P.S. Nick Varner has no shot against these 4 players in a long race I do not feel.

I think Efrin might gas in that long of a race. I think the obvious choices are SVB or Alex for a scott match.

I think a race to 20 over 2 days would not be so bad, I think he was gassed in this last TAR match after 2 weeks of straight pool playing Earl and the DCC. Alex or Shane vs Frost would be epic in a long race as long as The Freezer shows up to play his best game because I know Alex and Shane will.
