Who are the 'Old Schoolers' of AZ

Aye...

Well if 2005 counts, then I am an old skool AZBer....

I remember getting into huge debates with Colin Colenso, whatever happened to him I don't see him post any more????

Don't forget Bob Jewett and Pat H. And please, no more mentioning the one who is not to be mentioned, I don't care how old he is.

Dave <-- june 2004 after bailing on the trainwreck RSB ..... a little before RSB-refugee :)

If I don't know who the one is????

How am I supposed to know who the one who is not to be mentioned is if no one can mention the one who is not to be mentioned. So if I mention the one who is not to be mentioned I may continue to mention the one who is not to be mentioned because I don't know the one who is not to be mentioned is????

I've been around a while and was also active on Rec.sport.billiards from the early to mid 90's until Fast Larry ruined that site.

Yes, BUT... do you remember Joeseph Bartalo (RIP) the Misunderstood Weatherboy? (The only guy to actually threaten to kill me over something I posted on RSB :-)

Extra credit if you remember were he played pool.

Lou Figueroa

Wasn't it Mount Pocono? I don't remberer is that maybe in Pennsylvania? It's been a long time...

I am old, but relatively new to AZB. I was fortunate to find this place about 2years after re-starting to play after 25+ years layoff. In this short time, I have seen a more contentious and abrasive vibe emerge. That bites.

There are many posters that contribute real value-most have been already mentioned and identified already as 'old schoolers' with time in service at RSB and CCB b4 here at AZB. To all of you-thank you. For the buzzing gnats-not so much.

Has Jay been around forever? Has he been posting forever? Same with Bob Jewett? I remember Fast Larry posting here about the time I started-but soon faded away.

The people mentioned in this thread largely confirm my own experience -of people that say something when they speak on this forum. I'm not there yet.

Good thread.

Your problem and no.

I also see that Sherm paid no attention to my request .....

Dave <-- remembers Sherm from rec.crafts.metalworking in days-gone-by (decades-gone-by might be a better description).

Hey Watchez...thanks for reminding me again of my advancing years.

I guess I will grudgingly admit to "old school" status; but ONLY if sjm is admitted as well ("youngest old schooler" is in his avatar).

Anyone who has not crossed swords with drivermaker or can't remember IMMSHARMA (his secret aiming system reminds me a great deal of all of the CTE brouhaha) is probably NOT an old-schooler.

P.S. - anyone who does not remember breakup or the breakup/Betmore feud is NOT old school.

I remember drivermake, breakup and Tom Ferry too....loved the posts all of those guys made....as well as several others that are no longer here..I lurked here for at least a year before becoming a member.

I prefer to remain in the shadows......somehow, it's easier that way!!

He got banished to the land of the slow internet connection in Australia and eventually lost patience. Show your condolences by e-mailing him some massively huge files and a worm to slow his computer to a crawl...

Sorry Dave. I didn't read to the end of the thread before posting! lol Yes I used to frequent a rec woodworking group also. There was a lot of good information passed around

back before the spammers took over the usenet. Moderated forums are the only way to go now. If someone doesn't keep the idiots at bay, they quickly go south!

I wonder what happened to SnookerUSA from RSB. I vaguely remember him promising his wifey that he'd take a month hiatus from the forums but I guess he made it permanent.

He used to get rather intense, in an enthusiastic way. I also remember Jim Meador, one of the wiser, more level headed posters from back in the day. Lou has aged like a fine

wine. I believe it was he and Deno who had a running battle that lasted quite some time. Of course Jimbo is missed by many of us but has his own forum that has it's own sense

of charm. And no one can forget old Smorg! Back in the RSB days I met him for the first time at Becky's "meet and greet" in Florida. He came in to the poolroom using one of

those walkers with wheels and a white cane asking for a big spot from anyone who'd listen! lol I've made some good friends through the forums, folks who have enriched my life

just by being there and sharing their high and low points as I did mine. I remember writing a post with tears in my eyes to tell everyone about the passing of my best friend and

road partner, Gary Spaeth. That was the hardest thing I ever had to write!

I have no idea where I'd fall into this. I used to post regularly on RSB back in the day. There were some epic fights between me and Thomas Wayne. Although we argued a lot back then, around '98 or so, I got the chance to meet him face to face at one of the expos and we hit it off like we were long lost friends and haven't argued since.

Where I fall on this forum? Not sure. Maybe not "old school" but I like to think of myself as "well known" around here, if nothing else.

I was once up on the bottom of page 2 of rep count if that means anything

Edit: Just found that I'm still in the middle of page 3 of the rep count. Not bad considering I don't post much lately.

Hey buddy, I remember being on RSB in 1992, and CCB in 1995. That's ALMOST 20 yrs ago!...and that's with fresh batteries in my calculator! :D

OK, now you are throwing a curveball. If I'm correct, AZB and CCB wasn't around 20 years ago! Come to think of it, I don't think RSB was either.

Have you been on CCB that long? I didn't get there til 98 or 99.

Eric >met Scott on CCB

I don't know if I qualify as "old school", but my good friend that used to post as "Richard Cranium" surely qualifies.
