Hiho,

opinion from *the other side* ^^
There are many american players with such great abilities- but in a team are sometimes small points which can be much more important- the abilities to be able to play for the USA Mosconi team shouldn t be the problem to find- the biggest problem for a team-captain is to find out who s got the heart and the balls for an event like that. it s not that easy.

Archer and SVB should be a fixed position in the team (in my opinion), Deuel and Schmidt, too- the Rest is the difficult part for the captain.

Just my 2 cts and humble opinion :o)

lg from overseas,

Ingo

1. SVB - a great player, can't go wrong.
2. Earl Strickland - one of the most offensive players, not to mention his experience in this field.
3. Johnny Archer - He has been playing good for two decades now, always good.
4. Morris - a great player, and a team type of a guy who will add alot to USA team.
5. John Schmidt - this guy has been playing really well for quiet some time now, I think he will add to the team!

Good luck U.S.A! :)

SVB because I think he is the best player in the country.

Johnny Archer because if im not wrong he i ranked #1 in the country right now.

Dennis Hatch because he played great in that event last year, and I believe he even won the MVP.

Rodney Morris because he has a real good win percentage in the Mosconi cup and hes always a good representative for pool.

John Schmidt because he is a former U.S. Open champion and he played the best set of 9 ball I have ever seen.

Tough to argue with this list. I think SVB, Archer, and Hatch would be obvious picks based on history and last years performances. Rodney is always a force and would be great. The last spot could be a toss up for me between Schmidt, Deuel (who I love to watch and I believe has more shots in his bag than any other American player). I would certainly be interested to watch Bartum and/or Dechaine as well. Bartrum seems to always give 110% when I watch him play, and Mike D is somewhat local to me and his game is really taking off.

Just go out and have a fantastic US Open man and you never know. If you happen to win it, you will probably appear in the Fan Vote. I have already asked Matchroom if they'd consider dropping a pick if an American player won the US Open and wasn't already auto qualified.

If you do make it, the first beer at the Hotel will be on me.

i will try.
i would feel lucky to have a chance to do good
at the us open like i did last year.
i dont go to all the tourneys and never leave the
country but this is the toughest tourne i ever go to.

Im sure I will get roasted for this but I in no way think Earl should ever play in the Mosconi Cup again. He has made a fool out of himself way too many times. I dont care if he is the favorite to never loose a game. I wouldnt want a person like that representing my country and the game I love so much. I would much rather see another player that probably plays just as well as Earl does now get the chance as long as they will represent our country, and our game like a gentleman.

I will say Adam Smith was highly impressive at the Gem City Classic. He has lots of heart and is very hard to beat.

Johnny Archer, Shan Van Boening, Rodney Morris, Dennis Hatch and either Donny Mills or Charile Bryant.

This has to be the 5th player on the team.

If he got picked I'm sure he'd do the flying thing, if not as johnny says he needs to think about leaving as soon as the names are announced, it's a long, wet walk or a trip on the QE2.
