your favourite player of all time...

Who's your fav. player of all time and why?

Mine is Johnny Archer I love his immense control over the cue ball.

Mosconi.

Having seen most of the current and past current players play, I would have to say that none of them play like Mosconi did. He made it look effortless, and took the balls off the table with a precision and logic I've never seen embodied by any other player..

I saw him like maybe half a dozen times and he put a picture in my head of how pool could be played. It's probably the reason I'm still playing pool today.

Lou Figueroa

Efren Reyes. He played at the highest level. He played all games very well. He's a gentleman and can laugh at his bad or missed shots instead of breaking cues or sulking in the chair. He did it his way. He is a REAL CHAMPION. Johnnyt

Silky Johnson

Best is Efren, but favorite is Ronnie Allen for his sublime skill in my favorite game, one pocket. And because things got more interesting when he came around.

My Granddad

My Granddad.....he's the reason I play.:D

Johnny Archer is a very close second.

Varner, Rempe, Ronnie Allen, Fats, Cole Dixon, Ether, Gabby, Bugs, Louie Roberts, Hawiaan Brian, Hubert Cokes and Matlock and I'm sure a few others once I get away from this thread. I'd also have to give the nod to a few of the great suckers that kept allot of the pool world chummed, the Alias Steve Mizerack and there was another out of Denver that Ironman got a large Chunk out of...forgot his name.

For pure entertainment/skill, it would be a tough choice between Kieth in his prime, Ronnie Allen in his prime and Fats in his prime. And to see Bugs in his Pink Baby Huey outfit was something special.

Martin Kamen!! Omaha Fat's!! he was a beaut!!

The best match I ever saw and I have said it many times was BUddy giving Louie the call 7 in Sreveport when Buddy weighed about 190 pounds. TO this day I have never seen anyone close to the zone Buddy was in during that period. And it ain't like Louie was playing badly!

The one I never got see that I would have loved to see play was Harold Worst. I was told I saw hin in JC back in 71, but I don't remember him!!

best

I was in Shreveport in the 70's in the Air Force. I would go to Guys & Dolls and watch Buddy play and before that in St Louis and watchied Louie play. I told Buddy when Louie was coming to Shreveport that that guy could play. Buddy replied don't bet on him. I would get to practice with Buddy by playing for a few dollars a game and he was a champion and played for a couple dollars with this Air Force nut. Latter I was in Houston early 1980 and got to do the same with Earl he could play as good as anybody that ever lived 9 ball. Those were the guys. Ronnie Allen dated my older sister in Houston when I was very young they would go to the La Que later I watched him play one handed against a one handed abe in KC and it was a great match.
BUDDY HALL
EARL STRICKLAND

You've got excellent taste.

If you live in Metro D.C. area, I heard it through the grapevine that McCready is making a cameo appearance at a charity event in two months. I'll provide the date when it is set in stone with the venue site.
