Your shooting music?

I can handle listening to most genres with the exception of Country, Death Metal, and 99% of today's "Top 40" stuff.

However, I really like to listen to classical music when I shoot. It's relaxing and it doesn't interfere with any kind of rhythm. By that I mean you can hear it, but it's not distracting ... it kind of creates a background ambience rather than take center stage like other music.

Theres this nice older lady I play against in League ; all it takes to rattle her is a little White Zombie . . . :grin-devilish::grin-devilish::grin-devilish:

i carry an Ipod shuffle.
If the room has to many distractions or lousy music I switch to that.
It's filled with Comtemporary Christian music, Steve Miller, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, and Creedeance.
I find music can effect my play.

I have 2 theories:

#1 There should be no pool playing permitted without music (and ALL music played in pool halls should be approved by me).

#2 Pool proficiency is DEFINITELY enhanced by music that is both very familiar to the player (so the rhythm of the music enhances his "flow"), and that has pleasant memories (to inspire comfort, and take the mind off potential negative stressors). In my case it is the rock music we loved in college in the early 70's, or high school in the '60's...geez, put on anything by Jethro Tull and my game improves by at least a ball or two...I'm sure of it...not kidding...

I spent over a year studying my music sources so I could have EVERY good song ever made (as decided by me) on my Ipod. The vast majority of the songs each has some special memory (played in a rock and roll band for 40 years) - it is a competitive advantage for me when I use this list in my weekly games with a top pro.

Do not visit Betmore's Basement if you don't want to listen to my music (though I will occasionally let visitors "bring their own" if I'm in a good mood). I still have a couple of Government Mule CD's that Justin Collett left in my basement several years ago, and I'm quite worried he is holding it against me (I keep forgetting to take them down to DCC...in a scrape with JC you should strongly consider not betting on me...).

Three dog night forever!

OK, I will confess, I am a Three Dog Night kind of guy. I had my MP3 player cranked up pretty good in my car yesterday and for a change of mood I hit the FM radio channel and up popped The Humpty Dance and it was kind of loud and two really good looking black girls were in the car next to me along with one angry looking black guy. The girls were busting a move to my music, grinning and smiling big time. The young guy about 28 just glared and stared at me, with the girls making eye contact. I rolled down the window so they could really get the feel for the beat and they just went wild; all except the dude who looked like he was ready to bust my head instead. :D:p:D The signal light changed I gave the young guy one of those "cool knowing nods"and I moved on waiting til I got out of ear range of them because I didn't want them to know that I really wasn't listening to Digital Underground.

Speaking of Three Dog Night, the Derby City Classic is coming up next month and I have to clean out the dog house for my return trip home.

Pink Floyd is my favorite playing music. I just bought an album called The Union by Leon Russell and Elton John. Very bluesy type of rock & roll and it's great to play to.

I don't like anything upbeat or loud when playing, it's not that I don't listen to heavy metal or rap, it's because it speeds my game up and distracts me.

I like to listen to chill music like ambient music, 80s balads, and jazz.
