The first stop of The West Coast Women’s Tour was a big success. With 27 women at Dog House Billiards in Cotati, CA, the room was full of entertaining 9-Ball competition. This tour has been going strong since the 1990s. Some of the events have gotten over 60 players. There is also a Second Chance event. the curse of the 8ball
a well known issue
I think it's not just nerves or a mental thing, although it is a mnetal thing in most cases.
but sometimes it's harder if the table lights are not great, as we may not see the black ball fully.
This is part of the reasons why I hate the Aramith Black set when playing 8ball, stripes are much harder.

The short answer is NO, you won't miss.
The longer answer is - if you missed, then you didn't hit the correct contact point, you think that you have, but you didn't.
You might miss due to other factors like un-even table or dirty cloth when shooting soft.
