Empty the coin op tables out and pay per game will WORK. Or charge an appropriate amount per player per game on the non coin op tables. You do this people will at least have a diff problem to sweat. You don't do this, people will just stop coming.
You still haven't stated what you think is appropriate for a TD to be paid...
You think a TD, or tour operators in ths case, should be paid for working their butts off the rest of the week putting things together and then working almost around the clock during the tournament?
The TD's, tour operators, and room owners should be putting on tournaments and reaching deep into their own pockets for added money and to cover all of the very real expenses of putting on events for their love of pool.
Speaking of love of pool, when all of these other folks don't deserve any compensation, should the pool players be paid? I think I'll go ahead and host the Inter-Galactic Tri-Universe Championships I have been talking about for years. While it will be a true open, two hundred of the world's best will get a special invite. I'm going to give out pretty colored ribbons to the winners. No problem with finding a big enough venue, my friend has a table in his den.

Look, still most are not getting the point. When the tour takes $27 out of every $45 entry fee, it's highway robbery. It had nothing to do with the 100 players. This same thing goes on at every GSBT event. They take out way too much money from the players share period. It doesn't matter if there is 100 players or 20, it's too much. The only thing that having the 100 players did is that it made it easier to see just how much came out! Get part of your pay from the room owner.
The room owners add 1500 and have a room full of people all weekend. As for expenses that you people talk about, the room owner pays for the TD's room AND and food. The only people that get the short end are the players. START ADVERTISING THE TRUTH (0 added tourney) and see how many players you draw!!!!You think a TD, or tour operators in ths case, should be paid for working their butts off the rest of the week putting things together and then working almost around the clock during the tournament?

...I'm not familiar with the GSBT but I have worked with and for two other regional tours in the past and the room owners DID NOT pay for the tour staffs hotel and food....
Which regional tour(s) have you worked with?
LOL, where did you get that from? I'm not familiar with the GSBT but I have worked with and for two other regional tours in the past and the room owners DID NOT pay for the tour staffs hotel and food. Some pool rooms might give the TD's free food but not all of them. Depending on how far they are from home, they might have to stop & eat on the way to and from the event.
What it boils down to is no one knows all the details of every tour but too many state what they think is a fact and get bent out of shape over something they actually know nothing about.
Ultimately, I suggest you do the following - simply start your own tour. It is simple enough that you could do it in your spare time on the weekends, right?![]()
I have been invoved with two in two different regions. One is still going and one is not. I did not own them, I helped the owners. Sorry that doesn't answer your question directly but that is all I am willing to give.
This is FACT for the GSBT tour.....rooms paid......food paid
Don't know where you got your info, but it is WRONG. Shannon & Marge pay their own way.
Would you care to wager??? It's you that are wrong. Room gets paid everywhere, food at most. THAT'S A FACT know it all.

TruthWillCome...Why is that you keep beating a dead horse here? YOU are the one who is so pissed about this, that you felt it necessary to come on here and slam the owners of the GSBT. As you can see from the posters here, NOBODY else gives a sh*t what you think, and they have told you just to stop playing...as would be the case, if most of the players thought they were getting ripped off. If I were Marge & Shannon, I would simply ban you from any of their events. Give it up...it's not the debacle you want to try and make it.

For your info.... The poolroom owner, Janet Atwell had about 25 players complain about the payout. This wad a travesty, not just some little error.
