Sorry but just because Brumback says something doesn't make it gospel. I respect his game deeply, however you are both dead wrong. This is one of the many reasons why pool gets such a bad rap... Too many people who misunderstand good sportsmanship or simply don't have any. Should the refs not wipe up sweat or spills on a basketball court? Your logic regarding hillbilly pool is quite frankly.. Hillbilly!

Serious players would never do it? Hillybilly pool? Then why is it written directly into the WPA rules?
Are those considered banger/bar rules?
ACTUAL serious players expect adequate equipment and room to play.
They don't tolerate shooting around obstacles and changing their choice of shot based on the furniture.
It's fine for your cue to smack an obstacle on the backswing if you're playing at hard times with buddies.
It's not ok for serious pool.

Flipping out and losing a match must be a pro thing then....?
Much better to flip out and lose a match then to do something goofy like move a light. Definitely the way to go. Thanks for the perspective. :thumbup:

I've played at some real doozies when it comes to bar pool, and I've never asked for the light to be moved or held aside while I took my shot. And I'm the guy tall enough to whack the shiznit outta my head when I stand up from my shot :frown:
In the interest of full disclosure, I've moved chairs and such. Maybe a bar stool or something similar. Never thought about moving a (dining) table, an ATM machine, or a light.
But the thought of repositioning the light has never crossed my mind
I've always considered the light as being... well... "non-movable" (if that's a word) ? Much like that one wall that always gets in the way

Absolutely crossed mine.
Only I was never smart enough to ask for help, I always end up looking like a fool trying to lean into it with my head.

on many bar boxes with low hanging lights i have used my head or shoulder to move the light and get to a shot. never been questioned about the legality, but what you did was let this get into your head, and thats why you lost the match. you have to remember you are not playing the other guy, you are playing the balls, when its your shot you have to get out, you did not do this as you were think about *****ing about some small thing that upset you.
we all want to win, but leagues are for fun, get over it, get on with your life.

Exactly, I'm mad at myself because I would of never thought to have someone else move the light.
All of those masse shots I never took...
It was brilliant to have the other team hold the light instead of his own teammate or a referee.
The guy must of been a stone cold hustler to think of that move.
Referee or not, I wouldn't want any part of that guy.
