JAM - age has nothing to do with it. I have seen Willie Munson, Jack Cooney, Bobby Hunter, Jose Parica --- I could go on for a long list --- just get up and play with no bullshit.
Conversely, I have seen plenty of players with age to them act out of turn. I have seen the late great Wade Crane play the Danny Harriman that is the subject of this thread and get far out of line with Danny as Danny was torturing him. Danny was nothing but respectful, and took the banter quietly without response. One time during the match, Danny was shooting with cue ball up in the kitchen, shot a ball off of the rail on Wade's side of the table below the side pocket just above the second diamond, two railing it into the stack, moving the entire stack to Danny's side and drifted the cue ball down towards Wade's hole - trapping Wade now behind all the balls. Wade mother f'ed him and said he was blind lucky and had no idea what he was doing. Ten minutes later the match was over. Two months later, Wade put Danny's shot in his column as 'his shot' in Billiards Digest.
I thought Danny's latest post was pretty respectful and it appears he has turned the corner on this. Hopefully he will get in stroke and get in the grease, as Saw calls it.

Well, you could sstart by removing the last word in your sentence.
Take that word and put it in a bag.

Not 100% sure but I think the short version is, john got mad and said something in their tar match years ago,
and maybe swiped at a piece of chalk which then hit danny. Prolly an accident.
Danny took that very personally and said john is a POS and a coward and so on and so forth.
They woofed on AZ, it's entertaining, you should search. Then someone made a pretty brutal low blow
on danny by posting a pic of him from a sex offender registry.
Not sure of the details but of course people speculated loudly in public.
They woofed some more and john said one of his best lines ever, something like
"I'd rather be eaten by a goat and shit off a cliff than lose 2 dollars to you".
Danny kept the grudge burning and said it wouldn't surprise him if John would cheat
by having someone in the crowd use some invisible ferrule-cracking laser on his opponent.
Later he offered to fight him. Now it's built up so much that regardless of the money
neither guy could possibly stand to lose to the other so they just don't play.

Screw the match, we have better players with less BS. It would be easy to believe that 1 is scared and the other is glad of it. In a few more years they will be washed up and no one will care to see them play. It's not like they have the Earl factor going for them
