Maybe I should be more active then..... I was thinking of taking applications for my own personal nuthuggers, but that would save from having to do so....:thumbup:
Chuck

You earned one with me for sure. Keep building solid cases like you do and you will have a ton of nuthuggers.

I think it's all good. Of course, CJ has an agenda, but so what?

CJ's threads are heavily sponsored and, in my view, for good reason. While bringing attention to his initiatives and products, CJ also greatly engages in online discussion about the good old days of our sport and why they can possibly offer some guidance for the future.

The posts that I don't like are the ones that are one sentence and are followed by a huge attachment that amount to an advertisement, but that's not what you get from CJ. He corresponds with the forum regularly and, whether you agree with none, some, or all of what he says, he brings a broad view of our sport.

Those who have lived pool history know it best, and I'm generally interested in hearing what they have to say.

I struggle to understand why anyone gives a shit if CJ posts ads. Don't open the threads. Put him on ignore. Whatever. If it's okay with the site owners, it must be okay.

As far as pros not posting here due to confrontation, get some thicker skin. It's the internet and the way it is. Growing the fan base and interest in the sport also serves their best interest in the big picture.

Thing is that it's super easy for people with nothing to lose to say get thicker skin. People who are giant targets are still people and no matter how thick their skin gets it's still annoying to have to fade a cloud of mosquitoes every day just to get a point across.

What does the big picture matter if they are being personally attacked incessantly?

Also the idea that people should grow thicker skin is also not particularly cool. Why should people have to do that just to be a part of a discussion forum? You can't assault people in public - you can't follow a person around and verbally harass them in the real world - that's a crime in every jurisdiction.

But on here some folks think it's just harmless ranting and easily ignored. I bet if you were somewhat famous and wanted to participate here and you were hounded by trolls you would think otherwise.

I participate in forums where I am complete nobody and nobody cares much what I have to say unless I were to troll the people who they did care about. Then hell would rain down on me. But I have the good sense and decorum to remain deferential and polite to the stars who frequent that forum. Mainly because they usually are giving advice that's hugely beneficial to me, they rarely post anything I disagree with and when they do I try to be very respectful in my disagreement.

Anyway, you're right in that it's internet. I have learned that people will act out as much as they are allowed to. In real life they will be much more likely to be cool when being an asshole will get them popped. Online people who want to be dicks will be as long as they are allowed to get away with it. Forums like this with little real-time moderation let's people get away with it longer than on forums where the mods are constantly on top of bad behavior.

The majority of pros are doing plenty of promotion - on Facebook. Where they have friends and fans who give them respect. They don't have to grow thicker skins because they can simply cut trolls off.

It seems unfortuantely that often talent and verbal skills seem to really stir some up in this game. I do not recallCJ ever attacking someone or disrespecting someone for his/her opinions on the game or anythng else. It seems to me he states and we can agree, disagree, or ignore. We have choices.
Like SJM says he has history and I value his opinion and input. The history of the game is fading far too quickly IMO!

I've participated in a fair number of Internet forums. By a huge margin, you are the most argumentative individual I've ever encountered. I feel sorry for you dude. Really.

This is an expensive venture and it takes real money, real time and real passion.

Yes, I do have an agenda, and that's to devote time, effort and capital into trying to cycle professional pool back up into the public awareness. This is an expensive venture and it takes real money, real time and real passion. I wonder sometimes why I feel the need to pursue such a challenging venture....and then stop and remember what the Game has done for me......it's saved my life many, many times.

The cost of the Documentary was $25,000 - I said we expect to lose money on this project UNLESS we can use it to do something bigger.....therefore it's not about making money in the "short term," however I've always looked at it as an investment in the future.......it's like planting seeds, you spend money to buy and plant and then at some point you hope to have a "crop"......this is how the economy is stimulated in America, always has been and always will be.......thank Goodness. :D

We also added $25,000 to the Million Dollar Challenge Tournament and paid Earl $50,000 when he ran the racks and was prepared to pay him more if the law suit failed.....much more. I further put in $80,000 to aid in Earl's legal representation and stood good for an additional $220,000 to see it to the settlement day. We also paid $20,000 for the TV Broadcast that we have displayed on our web site.

Is this enough to show "interest" in the success of professional pool? There's more from previous year's TV Shows as well and the tournament in Hollywood Park Casino wasn't inexpensive to produce, film and we added $25,000 as well (with Jay Helfert's help)......we now have that semi final and final match up at www.cjwiley.com

We put on several more PCA tournaments and put in an additional $50,000 to produce these events in Olathe Kansas, St. Louis Mo. and LA -- you have to "pay" to "play".

Not that anyone cares but I'll post my 2 cents. CJ's post don't bother me. I just skip the stuff that I think is just fluff or weird psycho babble or just repetition of points he's made a million times. He's told some good stories and whatnot too. I just wish the ratio were more 50/50. Whatevs. As for pros and having thick skin I understand John's point, but I've never understood why pros or anyone else gets upset about what people say about them on the internet. If pool ever became big and mainstream they wouldn't be trolled on this forum as much as they'd be trolled in the media and ESPN. I mean 1st Take is pretty much just trolling with millions of viewers. It's stupid but it comes with the territory unfortunately. The best approach is pretty much handle it exactly like CJ does. Just do what you do. Brush off the trolls. Interact with fans and promote yourself.

That's right, when I think about "trolls" I think about the TV series 'The Walking Dead'.....no matter what happens in the world there will always be "zombies," not real ones of course, just those that want to "feed off the living".

It's a funny concept for a show. :D 'THE POSTING DEAD'

to stop 'The Posting Dead'..... it involves the "head".

Nice, so now with all the support you receive in your threads, you're now emboldened to be making up names for people that may just have a different opinion of yourself and the content of your material contained in your threads.

But then hey, yer a movie producer now.

all professional players involved in internet "social media".

That's exactly right!

We need all professional players involved in internet "social media".

.I like you posting on here too

I like CJ posting here....I would love if Shane dropped in.
What JS brought to this forum wasn't exactly professionalism.

Thank You Sir....I like you posting on here too. It's hard to imagine not liking everyone that posts on here. :D

IF I sent you such an email, which I don't admit to, then I can't imagine how a guy as "polite" as you are would ever get such an email from anyone.

However I dispute that I sent you the email you claim, which would make you a liar if I didn't and simply completely out of context if I did.

"...out of context..." hmmm. Well, OK. Here's the whole email:

"F**k you, you f**king f**k. Why don't you post this - it doens't matter if
you do because everyone will only think you took poetic license anyway and
I'll deny it. You lost a**hole. You are the one of the dumbest f**king
pr**ks alive. You might actually be the only person I would just flat out
f**king punch if I saw you in person. Be very f**king glad you didn't bring
this sh*t to New Orleans you sack of crap. I dare you to cross my f**king
path anytime. If you do then be prepared for a f**king fight a**hole. You
are going to eat every f**king word you ever said to me.

Post it - dick!"
