Why wouldn't Glen just put the table back to Pre Hack and or Diamond specs and leave it at that. If his own table leveling system works that well, which I have no doubt that it probably does, then the Diamond table shouldn't need to be braced for future sagging.

If his leveling system does put stress on the frame as well, requiring a brace, then it shouldn't be used and is not doing any better job than the previous mechanic.

Glen didn't put his leveling system into this table. The frame was already damaged from the hack job. Glen put it back to specs, then reinforced it to stop it from any sagging in the future. Now anybody can come in and recloth the table, and it shouldn't fall out of level with the way he reinforced the frame.

Lol it's a work in progress. Then again, when isn't it? I'm a low to mid A player locally right now. Strong B regionally lol. I go down to Sacramento for the Open 9 ball tourneys at Hard Times, and I seem to place perpetually just out of the money lol. One of these days I'm going to win some money down there damnit... It's slightly frustrating, but what part of pool isn't? I enjoy myself, and that's the important part right?

It usually does need to be re-leveled at some point in the future but if you're changing cloth every few years, it doesn't make that much difference.

Ernesto is fair with his pricing and gives room owners priority over individual customers. He is definitely booked and in demand. I like how his tables play a lot.

Ernesto's pockets play better than stock Diamond imo too.
Diamond is not going to change their corner pocket angle of 141* ever. I think even if a hundred pros tell them it tapers down too much and spits out balls too much.
As good as Ernesto makes those Gold Crowns play with Artemis ( K66 profile ) , I really think there is no need to convert all those tables to take K66 cushions. He belt sands the top of the sub-rails so he can mount the rubber a little lower.
He should leave the sub-rails alone and just install Superspeed imo.
That's the cushion designed for those tables.

Does he do that on current GC's 3 and later that accept modern super speed cushions? Or only to GC 1 and GC2 that don't accept the modern super speed cushion as-is?

unfortunately, Brunswick superspeed cushions are now made in China and they are of poor quality.

within one or two years the hard spots can begin showing up.

amazing how I've seen so many antique Brunswick tables with monarch cushions that still play so well.

From what I've been told, they are much better now.
There are other K55 profile cushions besides Artemis.

That Table does look great...but 14.1 on 4" pockets has to be torture!!....even the TAR table was too tough for straight pool by some of the Pro's admission and i think those were either 4.5 or 4.25, but very nice looking table that will never accept an ounce of slop

I've got a healthy collection of antique cushions. Some of the BF Goodrich, Manhattan, and superspeeds are still as soft and juicy as the day they were born. It's amazing.

Pretty sad when they moved the rubber operation from Chicago.
I had the original Monarch on my GC II. They had no cracks.
But the glue lost it's bond.
And the corner pocket opening were as wide as Mosconi's pants.

WHAT? Chico is absolutely beautiful! A great college town with friendly people, Bidwell Park, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and lotsa college chicks... I miss that place and wouldn't mind retiring there. You're lucky Baxter to be there...

IMO the 4 inch pockets are going to turn out to be a mistake. That table isn't going to be as busy as you might think. Just wait and see.

I bet Glen tried to talk whoever was in charge out of it.

Or the bashers (until recently). Amazing how much discussion can happen when the negativity stays out.

A guy like RKC is like some custom cue makers, if you want to pay the price and wait the wait, you can end up with pretty close to absolute precision. However, as is pointed out in this thread, the expense or the time of that precision maybe isn't called for in a commercial setting. I realize that Ernesto (for example) may not be as precise or innovative as RKC, but he's also not as pricey, more time efficient, and will be available for service. I played on Ernesto tables at Hollywood Billiards (RIP) and they were as good as (better) any commercial tables I have ever ever on.

I know people here like to discuss "the best" or "the worst" as if they were absolutes, but really the application or use has to be taken into consideration.
