To Mark Griffin- Mosconi Cup Candidates

Mark Wilson is one of the best people in the pool world. You'd have a better chance of convincing me of Bigfoot than Mark being pompous.

Agree anyone who's ever met mark knows he's one of the nicest guys u could meet and has a love for the game we all injoy

Regardless, he tarnished the Major League Baseball homerun record for ever when he was tested positive for steroids after beating it.

My opinion is that Mark Wilson is a pompous @$$ and I look forward to the destruction of the Mosconi Cup team and wilsons ego this year. Hopefully next year I can again root for the American team (with a different captain at the helm). wilson is already planning his 'At least we lost with dignity(he hopes), its not about winning' speech.

The Cup is a joke not because of how the players act or what they wear, though that does matter a little. Having a competition (the MC) in which no one has to compete to be on the team which is supposed to represent the best competitors who have competed in various competitions over the year and have risen to become the best that this country has to offer makes this years cup the biggest joke since the cups creation.

It actually seems like some of the players have been hiding from competition this year. I think wilson wants it this way so his huge ego isn't questioned, and when they fail he will say what all good losers use as an excuse:well we are building something here, its not about winning (that's the only thing it is!), they acted like champions(he hopes), blah, blah blah.

A real man would take the best players, and actually coach them. Put down the law that bad behavior isn't acceptable and will be enforced. But as we can already see with Bergman, wilson doesn't have what it takes to keep the young guys in check yet alone a veteran player. So he took what he considers the easy way out, get a bunch of choir boys and try to keep them in check then spout off about how it isn't about winning.

I'll only respond to the bold, as the rest, I can't remark on.

The first paragraph, I agree with. Hand picking teams, when they used to be ranked based on competition is a joke.

As to the second, maybe that is Mark's goal, maybe it isn't. It certainly seems to be the view of some on this forum. Myself, I don't agree with it. Winning should be top priority. Image is for the tv crowd, and no one in the U.S. Watches the MC anyway.
 
We were overdue a garbage thread on the Mosconi Cup and this one sure fits the bill, Written by a complete ignoramus, it will
probably run for another 100 or so postings before joining it's predecessors in a place where Bad Threads go

You are thinking of that Mark with boo - coo bucks. I think his name is Bergman... or Zuckerbergman or something. Dude is rich! I think he's like the richest guy in pool.

Mark Griffin isn't a baseball player is he? I was thinking Mark Griffin was that guy who invested in a sport. Yeah, he's the Cuban who came to America after being born and raised in Cuba and he bought the Dallas Mavericks.
 
I just think we're really lucky to have the star of an extremely popular tv show like NCIS to coach the Mosconi Cup team. Lots of notoriety in that.

I would post a picture from Justin Bergman's (or is it Jason now?) Facebook page to show how nice he looked in his purple shirt and vest. However, even though I have been friends with Justin since he was 12 years old, Mr. Wilson says that is against the rules of AZ Billiards to post such a picture and I would be banned for posting it. You will just have to picture in your mind how professional he looked.

No, no, no... It was THE Mark that makes all of us Southerners look like mischievous, bare - footed, miss spent youth that can't even paint a fence!

BTW, it's too bad that the OP's high standards applied to J Bergman and Mark Wilson isn't applied to himself. If you are going to call someone out, get it right the first time.
