He is saying the remaining balance he still owes Quan Do ($1500) will be paid in 1 to 2 more payment installments.

Personally I believe Barry should be adding an additional 25% of money to help make up for all of the inconvenience and headaches the players who are still owed money have endured. Quan Do cashed for $3000, Barry should be paying him $3750 at this point ($3000 + 25%).

I am starting to feel bad for Barry's immediate family.

He probably makes his daughter work the Open for fee.

Nam isn't blood and Barry tries to delay payment.

Enough about the financials, and Barry's drinking and gambling.

Is there a deeper problem? Was Barry abused or worse picked on at school?

Barry the Red Nosed Leprechaun, has a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw it, you would even say it grows.
All of the other Leprechauns, used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Barry, play in any Leprechaun games.

Why is Barry still being allowed to run US 9 Ball if he connot pay the prize? Should the players just stop coming to his tour and create a new US 9 ball with real organizers with money? Or just stop US 9 ball altogether and create a different one.

WOW!!! I don't know what to say here. Months pate then only half payment. Then some B.S. "not a wealthy man". What a crock. Q-Masters must be near worthless or Barry has money management problems of epic proportions. Of course, the third option could be that he is a POS and does this because he can get away with it.

I have never before even jokingly promoted violence but he seriously deserves punched in the face.
 
I hope there is no Open this year. I would hope the top players won't go and the gate is 0. Anyone that helps him try to put another tournament on is not helping pro pool at all. I hope SVB wakes up and leads the charge not to go. Johnnyt

Barry always says he's "securing" corporate sponsorship. What a joke. Can you imagine this bumbling drunk fool meeting with corporate advertising execs trying to give his elevator speech and sales pitch? That would be hilarious to witness. He'd get laughed out of their conference room. There is no way he could ever secure corporate sponsorship. He's a shyster and it oozes out of his never ending line of bullshit.
 
It's beyond clear that Barry is not equipped or qualified to run the U.S. Open 9 Ball event. The prestige of this annual tournament is diminished bit by bit each year he runs the event.
 
Newsflash - I have been in communication with Barry the last few days expressing my displeasure about the unpaid players, and he has been less than cordial with me, saying that I don't have his back. Well enough about that, it goes with the territory.

He sent me an e-mail this morning saying he plans to retire and sell both his poolroom and the U.S. Open. Whether that happens or not we will just have to wait and see. I suspect the fallout from this last Open has caused him to rethink the future.

I say this with the most respect possible but sell the U.S. Open to who and for what?

I don't have any idea what the economics of running a tournament like that is but I'm guessing that by the time you have taken the entry fees and subtracted the cost of equipment, venue, equipment, staffing and marketing there isn't exactly a pot of gold waiting for you on the other end. In the state pool is in now, I doubt there is much in the way of sponsorship dollars and pay-per-view streaming has been proven to be a loss. And for that you will get to beg pro players to come play, be scrutinized by everyone and regardless of the outcome someone, somewhere will be upset.

Unless Barry basically donates it to someone, I can't imagine there are a lot of willing buyers.

I am playing catch up here, but how did it come to pass that this gentleman named Barry came to own "the U.S. Open." I take it that he acquired intellectual property. From whom? Are the details known -- extent of his acquired rights, any retention of rights by the seller? I have the same question about Dragon's ownership (or use) of the term "World Tournament of 14.1." Thanks in advance for any details from anyone who has hard facts.
