14.1 challenge John Schmidt concedes to Shaw disgrace

This sucks. I hate to see guys I like like Schmidt do stuff like that. Seeing guys concede matches is thing that tilts me the most as a fan. I've met John in person a couple of times (not that he would remember me) and he seems like a really good dude. Just can't believe he gave up with a big lead like that.
 
With regards to warnings now being public, that's one.

I've followed John's game since he first appeared on the pool scene.
At times he was less than professional in attitude, but that was the
exception and not the rule. I'm obviously disappointed in this recent
action, as proper decorum has always been paramount with me in
regards to any type of competition and public interaction. John will
get past this bump in the road as will his numerous friends and fans.
I wish him continued success at Pool and Life.
 
There are no excuses. As a professional you must COMPETE. Even as an amateur you shouldn't be playing any sport if you are not a competitor. You don't give up. You get beat but you don't give up.

John used to be a competitor and he had heart--a ton of it. Not so much as of late. This behavior is not uncommon in recent years. I saw him rake the balls playing One Pocket Rich in a small local tournament and I was shocked. Anyone can be beat on any given day and no one plays up to their best on everyday. To disrespect their sport, especially in this venue, is beyond disappointing.

Why shouldn't he have been on the Mosconi. He played the best match of anyone on the team shot the highest AccuStat score in his match with Grey. He dogged it later but so did the others here and there.

He should not have pushed the balls I agree but you come off pretty arrogant in your writing. What would you say to John if he was beside you at the pool room tomorrow. Would you tell him he was unworthy of the Mosconi Cup team.

Why is that Mark W picked him for the Mosconi team so he was worthy.

Well I know you hate him with a passion but I have to respect a man that can lose $18,000 playing bad knowing that he played bad and get right back up and fire $10,000 at Danny Smith and win. When was the last time you beat Efren Reyes in 1 hole even for money BTW????? Is that run on film?

Schmidt played better in his one singles match than Shane did in any of his at the Mosconi.

I agree but I happen to know he's a really nice guy even though he can get emotional when he's not up to par.. I've seen wayyyyy worse!!!

Lets get something straight. I don't hate anyone even John. Any problems with us happened from him starting them not me. He goes on his rants and talks shit about me then says im ok and a nice guy and then out of no where he goes at me again and again so get your facts straight but its probably hard to do when we all know where your head is stuck in this thread.
You can respect him for playing on everyone elses money and not his and that's ok and funny. I respect Shane a ton because he always bets his own and his attitude is something that is a great example to follow for a role model for up and coming players and the youth of pool. Would you tell your kids to try to be just like John Schmidt and admire him to be their role model? I took my youngest daughter (14 yrs old) who now has a lot of interest in playing pool to the US Open this last year and we sat ringside for all the good tv matches and she was very impressed with Shane Van Boenings play and with his great attitude and that's why I believe Shane is so successful.
John is a great player and you are hearing that from me directly but when nothing goes his way he destroys everything around him with his attitude and antics. This doesn't need to be highlighted from me just look at everyone elses comments. I just tell it a little more detailed since ive seen for a lot longer and many more times than most. All you have to do is just accept it your self and admit to it and stop being so one sided and it will all be forgotten till the next time he explodes or shows his attitude.

i know he would we have already played in fact, several times, yes h ecomes out winner but is that the point im trying to make. when i criticize a shot mcilroy played on green or a pass brady threw i do not expect to "play them some" qs you put it

he played ok against gray yes so what? are you seriously tellin me he was deserved a sopt on MC ahead of dechaine, archer, sossie , dominguez? no your beside yourself

its not perzonal me and JS have crossed paths many times over years, but what he did was a DISGRACE, i would tell him that tomorrow to his face i would love to ask him what the hell happened to you? ?? he used to play all the time have more passion than anyone and it is ok to lose thst but why become detriment to the sport in the meantime

like str8 shots when he basically hustled them, confirmed to do things exhibitionds etc help out juniors then bail at last minute, went off the deep end last couople years
 
It was Johns choice to concede, if any one of us play in a tournament tomorrow and are in the finals and decide to do the same then who really cares? The match is not televised and no big sponsors involved. The only people who might want to be upset could be the people adding the money. Who knows why John conceded, maybe he was not into it because Shaw obviously was not wanting to play and wanted to get sleep for the nine ball which he felt is more important.

I hate to see people tearing the man down on here. John is a good guy in my opinion who I think is just tired and disenchanted with pro pool which is easily understood since it pays about the same for most as the guy greeting people at Walmart. If you guys asked the question as to why he conceded as opposed to attacking the man you might find out what happened.

Thanks for your post Lenny. This guy is s hater and jealous beyond belief.. A bit cracked IMO. It's embarrassing...I'll swing by next time we play AZ.

Was John being paid by the stream? If not he had no obligation to that or those watching IMO. I do hope John chimes in but many hear have crucified this guy without even knowing what happened.
