A Apology to Barry Behrman

I started the thread about asking if Barry had the $75,000, in cash there the final day. I suppose that in asking that question, and it was a legit question as I wasnt there that thread or information of it got to Barry and it pissed him off. Rightfully so. I just remembered the "open letter" and wondered what happened. Thus Barry wrote another letter after the tournament explaining what happened. I feel responsible for that. Its none of my business, however I respect the players and I want to see them get paid. Barry has always managed to pay everyone and ran a successful national event for longer than anyone else, As a Biz man I know there are ups and downs as good as any other biz man. Barry has done great things for pool and I should not have said a word knocking him, it was in the poorest taste and form as another biz man on my part. There is no excuse for my actions.

Since I made that thread, I have thought about it often. It wasnt something to be taken lightly by me, When I heard the Cash wasnt there I was disappointed that it didnt happen and said things that I shouldnt have said. I over stepped my bounds and was wrong. I owe Barry a sincere heart felt apology. Since the players are happy Barry did the right thing as promised and I jumped the gun being too critical.

So for the record Barry, I sincerly appologise for what I said and will do what ever I can to make amends with you in the future. I was out of line to react so fast and make an issue of something I only had partial knowledge of which is inexcusable under any circumstance. Therefore again I sincerely apologize to you and your staff. I can only hope that you forgive me for my mistakes. I am very embarrassed by this and always will be, i'm very hard on myself when I am wrong. And I was VERY wrong in starting that thread and saying what I did in a public forum. I will do my best to correct or rectify any damage I did to you or the US Open.

Sincerely,

Eric Petersen

PS: Thanks for what you have done for pool, and tell your puppy I said "Hello"

Big Man

It takes a good man/woman to issue a letter like yours
I for one respect you for your actions after. Any one makes a mistake, yet few will go down and rectified as you have done......Well done friend and wish more people are like you

Nice post sir. It is an honorable thing to stand up and apologize. Many here know what it's like to post something in the heat of the moment and have some regret later. Fewer stand up and admit it. Good on you.

Very big of you Eric. We all say things we wish we could take back at some time in our lives..

I started the thread about asking if Barry had the $75,000, in cash there the final day. ...

You asked a legit & simple question in that thread - "was the cash displayed".
As I recall your followup post asked for a simple "yes or no".
Unfortunately it got out of hand from there on - which is par for the course here.

Eric, I feel you did nothing wrong. You asked if the money was there and displayed on a table with armed guards for all to see. It was a legit question and the answer was, no it was not. Barry put out a press release on AZ saying it would be. Barry has nothing to say about that on his little chat with AZ Billiards. Johnnyt

Very classy post, I personally did not see you post anything out of line, but perhaps I missed something. I tried to rep you, but it said I need to "spread some around first". At any rate kudos to you once again.

It takes a big man to apologize when things get out of hand, even though your original question about the cash was a good one. It did get out of hand so this was a classy thing to do.

But, it takes even a bigger man to begin using paragraphs that are easy to read...we all thank you for that :).

I agree. The press release did make a big deal about showing off the money. And that still hasnt been addressed. It's ok if they didn't feel they could do so safely, or whatever reason. It simply hasn't been addressed, though it was promised.

I also agree that it is a very classy move on your part to apologize for starting the whole thread, which did get out of hand, I suppose. Some of us can discuss these issues calmly and rationally, and then there some who feel the need to stir-the-stuff...

Well done as usual, Eric.

I feel the same way. The press release said it will parade the money and it didn't happen. Granted everyone was paid, still there was no parade of the $$$ as detailed on the press release. There is nothing to apologize for.

You are a big man Charley Brown and I respect your intent here. But man, lighten up on yourself a little. You only ask an obvious question. The fault lies that the question should have never had to be asked.

Fatboy never apologize for having the best intentions!!!!

Promises were made and not honored! Getting the nut cracker out to see that the those commitments are honored is NOBLE and nothing to apologize for. If Mr. Behrman was not so Grand in his letter to the players, I am sure some may not have made the trip out of fear! So, he shoulders much of the blame for the negative fallout from deviating from his planned method of Payment.

The character of a man is not how he handles good times but how he handles adversity!!!!

Sincerely,
Kid Dynomite

I was deeply offended by the original thread. A couple thousand to my paypal account would ease the pain.

I don't think your original question was that out of line. Yes, other people took the thread in a different direction, but people should be allowed to ask questions about things that are promised. Seems like asking any questions about the US Open is forbidden for some reason.

Considering that the top 2 players were not paid on the spot, but instead put on payment plans again, I think this was a fair question.

I don't mean to derail Fatboy's apology but in reference to the above quote, say what? I hadn't heard this.

BTW Fatboy, very nice post but really you were only asking a question. Any damage done (and I don't think there was any) was not your doing.

Fatboy I see you are making nice. calming the water. I think your original post was a good question but if you do not want to make any waves for Barry I understand. Barry has worked at his tourney and he keeps it coming year after year. Thanks Barry. However i think when someone says I am going to do something publicly about there own event it is not wrong for others to say did that happen. We all know that things come up, plans change etc I hope next year that all players can be payed out how and when Barry says he will do it.

no need to say your sorry, barry said he was going to do something and he didnt do it!there is a reason he promissed to show case the money, barry got what he wanted 256 players,so in return he should of did exactly what he promised.end of story!
