I don't gamble. I have no clue.
My observation is that most gambling sessions involve a negotiating stage where all of ones family, posse, pets, personal appearance, penis length and alleged relations with farm animals comes into play.
And this is the friendly pre-match sparring that precedes establishing a spot, if any(if it isn't stealing-we can't bet), the money(amount, who and where it's held) the race, the location, the table, the start time,(and who pays the table time), jump cues allowed-or not, or how often, 3 fouls, push out, time out breaks, shot clocks and on and on and on.
OK. Now there is a game. It get gets played awhile-then it gets renegotiated, revisiting the original array of name calling topics plus a few new ones.
Then come(again?) the slow play, the stick dropping, coughing, the nod to signal the waitress walking/skid to a halt, the rack slamming, the balls bouncing off the slate, the bad/good roll counting score. And on and on and on.
Is all this done to assure a fair(evenly unfair) game? Should lawyers be involved? Is it a measure of your game or your ability to match up that requires this derogatory-ese skill set.
When the match is over- are these warriors all lovey dovey, or do they seemingly still hate each other, and their families, and posses, pets, and farm animals?
Is is just that we must be 'criminals' to be cool?
Are there no gentleman gamblers? Make a game without all the drama, play the match, adjust as needed. Conclude, pay. Discuss rematch timing and terms.
I just don't understand the modern 'model' that appears based primarily on insulting and degrading the opponent. Has it always been such?
As mentioned, I am clueless. I don't gamble.
Since I don't gamble, maybe I don't need to understand.
