Afternoon everyone.

I am getting ready to buy this book. I was wondering if there is a better reference than this one for teaching banking or if I have made the right choice in getting it (IYHO?) I already know how to bank and understand the "feel" needed. However, I am a sucker for a good instructional book <grin.>

Buy this book! You won't regret it.
 
It's one of the best books written by anyone, ever...as is the sequel, "The Gospool". Buy it...buy them both, also buy Jay Helfert's book. ;)

Well the books are entertaining, but I got the videos and I got more out of them.

I guess I am a visual learner.

I bought both, enjoyed both, but for learning, a video is hard to beat.

Damn guys! Super-quick responses =) I appreciate the input. I had thought about the DVD but enjoy having a book at the table..working it out. Thanks for the feedback. Ordering it tonight :thumbup:

book or video

I find that books and video's both have certain advantages. I'll look over a few pages or chapters of a book when I have a little time on my hands or before sleep. I don't do that with videos, I tend to watch them when I have time to watch all of them.

About Freddy's book, I read it and the very next day applied some of the things in it to making banks at the pool hall. Any book or video is more effective if you have a home table. One thing I have been meaning to do that I heard was fairly inexpensive is go to Kinko's and have them cut the binder off and spiral bind the book so it lays flat on a pool table or side table.

I have both of his DVD's and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to improve their game. Even if you're not a bank pool player, there is a lot of information that you'll find very useful.
 
Freddy's Book A Good Buy?

Like Lee Iaccoca used to say when he was CEO of Chrysler, "If you can find a better car, buy it!"

I offer the same sentiment on all of Freddy's material which I own all of,,,,

When he comes out with his next banking tutorial edition, possibly entitled, "The "Gems" Held Back", I will be all over it.

No. BWTB is the only book you will ever need to read about banking.
 
Awesome book. I bought the book 2 years ago and read it and looked at the pictures. But the diagrams were difficult for me to understand (at first) so I put it away. Finally 2 years later I felt like I haven't learned a thing in years so I picked up the book, figured out the diagrams (very easy now) and learned about 8 bank shots in 2 hours. I'm rarely missing them as long as I map the shot out and line up every time.

Also, I have emailed Freddy on AZ, about questions and he was quick to respond and helped me big time.

Now Im Really excited seeing all these responses. How I never heard of it before I dont know but Im tickled I came across it :D

Fantastic idea on taking it to Kinkos and having a ring binding put on it. I'll do that!

PH.D stuff

Banking with the Beard really goes deep into banking. Gives you the simple stuff but also gets into a lot of stuff you will probably never use (unless your a bank pool player). A great read. The Bible when it comes to banking.
 
Get the books AND the dvd's. imo... There are some shots that just need to be seen to get an appreciation for what's making them work.

it's worth picking up man. even if you don't learn a new bank the stories alone are worth it

Shootingarts; This is exactly the reason why I made my book spiral bound, "The Concise Book of Position Play". I't a 266 page book and 88 min. DVD on playing position in 3 Cushion Billiards. There are some very good kicking systems for pool players in the book.

A friend that I play with some times got the book and DVD's and almost over night he was banking better than i've ever seen him play. If you only learn one good tip from the book you've paid for it, but i'm sure there will be many more tips from a man with the knowledge of Freddy "the beard".
