Bobby Pickle Report

I am sorry to hear about Bobby's problems I only know this of myself. If I was falsely accused. I would fight to the ends of the earth to clear my name weather it be a second mortgage or raking lawns to come up with the money I would get a lawyer and fight it and if the lawyer won't work with me than I would find one that will. They only win if you let them..... Just my .02

My nephew was caught up in the exact same thing as Bobby in Atlanta, Junkie. He had checked out of his room and went back to a friends room who was about to check out when the cops busted in and found drugs. My sister and her husband did as you suggested, they ended up having to sell their house and move in with my brother in law's 92 year old father's 2 bedroom house. The kid was convicted with the others and is serving 20 years. The $160K the house brought is gone plus many thousand more they borrowed from the old man.

Point is, Bobby is in a "Catch 22" situation. No one can blame him for copping a plea. I would be curious to know what a public defender's win percentage is in the Memphis area on drug cases. I bet it ain't good.

Bobby is a great guy with a ton of heart. No one wishes him more luck than I do.........

This just shows how amazing bobby really is. To take a female that was being watched by the cops to a motel room that some of his friends rented and the police break in and write bobby up for the drugs and bobby being the man he did not nark on who's drugs they were. That takes big balls to do time for friends neglect. Now I won't mention the names of the 2 guys that rented the room. As far I know they have not lived up to help bobby out with money and other legal help. That is just wrong. I was in memphis when this went down. Thats just my 2cents.
Peace to bobby good luck man

I was in the right place, must have been the wrong time! If the police would concentrate on REAL criminals and stop incarcerating non violent drug offenders we would much less crime on our streets. I feel for Bobby and Hemi's nephew. There are no winners in war. NONE

I have a question... Did anyone try to get a group of pool fans together to show up at his court date and speak towards his character?

Also, get us his address, and I'm sure a few people would want to send him some care packages...

Good luck to Bobby.... :(

I guess I can be characterized as a pool fan and "responsible businessman." I was there and testified on his behalf. There was another man meeting my general profile and two is the limit his attorney said would be permitted to testify.

I think Abe Lincoln could have testifed and it wouldn't have made any difference.

I will post his mailing address asap.

Thanks to everyone for you good wishes. I will let him know.

Regards,
Jim

Just a FYI for everyone...and I won't get into much detail but the following is not disputed by anyone I know.

He was using a room rented in the name of ANOTHER PERSON. (Bobby had checked out of his own room since he had been knoced out of the tournament and was going back to Nashville later in the day or evening).

Drugs were found in a suitcase belonging to ANOTHER PERSON.

Drugs were found under the bed.

Queston: Who and for what reason, would put drugs under a bed and in some one else's suitcase when the person in question hadn't planned to spend more than an hour or so in the room????????????

The OTHER PERSON...in whose name the room was rented and in whose suitcase illegal drugs were found...WAS NEVER EVEN INTERVIEWED BY ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY????????? Can we all spell "setup"???????????

About 13 years ago the same thing happened to me.One rainy day I was at the pool hall and saw a local player looking a little shaky. I asked him what was going on and he told me he had been living in his car for about a week. For lack of a better name lets call him Santabanez. I told him to come home eat, rest sleep get healthy and leave. Fast Forward awhile. Now Dave Rhodes is living two blocks away. Niles is living downstairs. The pool hall is walking distance and Sharky's about a mile away. No thiefs, lots of action. I had a good job working a modified swing. Money in the bank. I'm traveling life is good. One morning about 5 am C.S. & his friend Noel go to breakfast.
I'm sleeping like a baby. The door breaks down, people are screaming guns are in my face and I start laughing. Now the triple agency task force in my small bedroom is cranky and want's to know why I'm laughing. I say coyly"I thought we were being robbed and frankly I'm glad it's you." As they are drilling the safe I try to tell them it's open. There are miniscule amounts of drugs found. I am the only one home. Three years, much money, my brother and the best darn defense attn in Oregon Paul Ferder. My charges are finally dropped. One arrest, arraignment, charges dropped. The State of Oregon asked me never to live with my co-defendants again. New rules, New game.

Let me know his address soon. But for the grace of God.....

Possession with intent? How much did they find? The person who rented the hotel room and owned the suitcase were never interviewed? What a crappy defense attorney.

I suppose I shouldn't comment, being that I don't know all the details. Wish him the best of luck though.

I'm not taking sides here, but the quality of the defense attorney has nothing to do with it when the client PLEADS GUILTY.

There is probably more to this story than what has been told here. Nobody knows all the facts except Bobby, the attorneys, and the police. Everybody else just knows whatever Bobby has chosen to tell them, or even worse, the second, third and fourth hand accounts of his story.

The case sounded very weak the way it was laid out here. Guilty or not, the truth of the matter is that the case must have in fact been pretty strong for him to have chosen to plead guilty, which makes it pretty obvious that we do not have the whole story or know all the facts.

For the record, I am not trying to imply that he is or isn't guilty, because I (and everyone else) have no way to know based on a one sided story, and without knowing all the evidence and facts. All we know is that he said he was guilty when it counted.

The case didn't have to be strong...Bobby has had previous offenses a long time ago.

Tennessee law enforcement has a thing for the Pickle clan, always have, always will. This goes WAY back. I have known the family for going on 35 years or so.

The have been after them for a long time.

Bobbie's brother got pulled over a few years ago, and they found a gun in the car. He had been in trouble previously too. He went to court, and got LIFE. For carrying a gun.

I'm very sure they told Bobbie..."we're going to give you 15 years if you don't plead guilty".............. and don't think they won't, either!!

That makes 3 years sound AWFULLY good. Don't it?

If your talking about Bobby's brother Mike. He went to jail for alot more than a gun in his car.

I don't know any details nor do I need to, it doesn't change my attitude about Bobby one little bit.
Bobby though is no idiot by any means of the imagination and I trust he took a plea for a pretty sound reason. We can all speculate on circumstances and reasons, and it doesn't change a thing.
Ten months is 10 months, and I don't minimize that, but it isn't a violent crime and I suspect Bobby knows how to "play the game" from here. This really sucks, but I suspect it could have been worse and can't imagine the pressure he felt. It surely stinks though.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. It hurts when this happens to somebody you care about, especially the circumstances you described previously in the thread -- wrong place at the wrong time.

I have been caught up in similar situations at various times in my life, but with my dad being a lawyer and me in the legal field, I have always tried to remove myself from the environment as fast as I could. I am very careful who I let walk into my hotel room today when I am on the tournament trail for this very reason.

Sadly, a good friend of Keith's was sentenced yesterday to 12 months, and Keith is very upset about it.

One out of 100 Americans today are in jail. Substance abuse or something pertaining to substance abuse is the reason the majority of people are locked up today.

I hope Bobby gets time off for good behavior. Maybe if the jails are crowded, he'll be home before Christmas. They kick out the non-violent offenders when they don't have any more room to house the violent offenders.

I think the majority of readers of this forum have been touched by this kind of happening, whether it's someone in our family or someone we care about. It hurts. I will say a prayer for Bobby Pickle.

Previous offenses only make a difference in how severe the punishment is when you are found guilty. They almost never have anything to do with how strong the case has to be.

As for the law being out to get the Pickle clan, that just doesn't happen like it might have in small towns say 40 years ago. Yes, they can be out to get you, but being out to get you only amounts to waiting for you to slip up so they can nail you on it, and not letting you slide on things they could have. In either case you did something wrong and can't complain if you have to face the punishment.

These days it is pretty difficult for the local police to pull something because it is fairly easy to appeal and have your case reviewed at the state level, and the options to further appeal at the federal and supreme court level are also there. I seriously doubt the state appeals court is familiar with the Pickle clan and would be completely impartial, and even if they knew them I'm sure the supreme court has never heard of them. Anyway, you get the idea.

And chances are if the law hates you that much there is a pretty good reason why anyway.
