I saw that too. He had Hatch lie on one end of the pool table and then Johnny jumped the cue ball over him to pocket the ball on the opposite corner of the table. Perhaps this is the trick shot we'll see on the Today show.
While pool needs all the publicity that it can get, it is kind of disappointing that trick shots on tv is the best that we can do.
Ain't that the truth ..... Archer says he has a minute and a half time slot. Either way, that isn't gonna change pool much I'm afraid. Everyone knows pool exists and trick shots exist, so seeing it again may not have the impact on the game he is hoping for.
If the pro players and associations really want to kick start pool's popularity again it needs, pro players in malls, casinos, with tables set up, all across the country. Posters around the table and prizes being offered to beat the pro playing the game all novices know....... 8 Ball.
This kind of exposure is relatively inexpensive, will DEFINITELY get media exposure as well as spectating exposure, not to mention people stepping up to actually play a game.
edit .. with this foundation ... some well dressed male and female pros signing photos and personalizing themselves with the folks watching .... that's the ticket.
All the companies involved with pool like cue mfgs., table mfgs., cloth, chalk ..... and on and on should spend money on this exposure and advertising. They won't though, because they are penny wise and pound foolish.
Eventually this kind of thing can evolve to tv game shows and on location live broadcasts.
