I only like to watch the new fast players in 1 hole, but I always enjoy watching Efren work his magic. What CB control he has...it's like watching a magician. Congrats Efren. Johnnyt

They say "50" is the new "40" so if that's true then Efren should be around for quite sometime. Congrats!!

It has been said that the harder the game, the more separation you will have between the best and the rest. It is my opinion that one-pocket is the most difficult game played on a pool table - all things considered. Given Efren's dominance over the years at this demanding game, and his ability to still deliver performances that stun the pool world at nearly 60 years of age, I am convinced he is the greatest player who has ever lived.

Congratulations, Efren Reyes.

Now, let's go snap off that all-around title!

Nice that Shannon and Scott finished runner ups. All 3 play great.

Exactly!!! At one point, these three were the best in the business along with Cliff (who coincidentally got inducted into the One Pocket Hall of Fame this year).

People should definitely remember this year for Scott and Shannon's resurgence as well!!!

Freddie <~~~ wanted all three to win!!!

Congratulations to Efren. No buy back needed.

Also, congratulations to Shannon and Scott Frost. Huge field to fade to be there at the end.

..kudos to Frost too for being among the first to congratulate Efren on the win..

Efren is what is good about pool personified. A humble monster. Thanks for another magic show...hoping for many more to come.

I was kind of thinking that Scott Frost would really be off this year. He seems to have had a rough year, and on again, off again pool life.

While Efren is the best pool player of all time IMO, I like to watch Scott playing one pocket.

Scott’s commentary is excellent in the booth, and when I heard him on Bonus Ball he really distinguished himself as a professional.

But for him to do so well, really speaks volumes for his approach to the game.

I honestly wish him the best wherever his life takes him.

Efren's "Comeback"

Many people thought that Efren was over the hill and washed up. We've all seen it before, as athletes age their skills erode, and all that's left is a faded memory of what they once were. It's sad. But Efren is certainly not washed up. He might not play now at the level he once did (he claims he's now about 85%), but even that 85% is remarkable.

I was there, in 1985 I believe, to see this skinny little kid from the Phillipines play some incredible kick shots at Resorts International's Last Call for 9-Ball. His name was either Caesar Morales or Efren Reyes, depending on who you talked to. Weenie Beanie, who was promoting/organizing the event, pointed him out to me and told me to watch him. Efren didn't even have his own cue-- he borrowed one from Rudolfo Luat, his countryman.
As luck would have it, Luther Lassiter, by now 'way past his prime, was playing at the same time on a nearby table. Imagine this: watching one of the greatest legends at the end of his career, while at the same time, seeing the next legend as he emerged from obscurity to world-wide fame.

18 months ago, Efren was invited to play 8-Ball at the Accu-Stats Make-It-Happen 8-Ball Invitational. The ten-foot Diamond table proved too much for the Magician and he was shut out for the Tournament...he lost every match. He missed shots, missed position, and even missed some kicks.
I thought he was finished...washed up.

Boy, was I wrong. Congratulations, Efren, on winning another title. You are the best!

I cannot believe that the days of watching Efren run balls at Hard Times are coming to a near end; this performance of his in winning the one-pocket championship gladdens my heart as it does many others'. He will forever be the best there ever was, and we will say, yes we have seen him play, and boy, was he something to behold! :p

Well said Chris!

I thought he would be too especially since he has not been playing much at all and never practices. He has a good deal of talent and if he put in the time practicing and playing more tournaments he would probably go up a ball or two in speed for sure. Amazing to think he can play at that level with such little table time before DCC.
