If it makes any of you feel better, Im sorry to attack your friends over at Accustats. My comment about them was out of line and could have been put better.

I dont feel that I attacked Grady...because I didnt try to, but if he is bent out of shape, Im sorry.

I have the right to my opinion and this is a forrum...so this is the best place for your opinions, so Im sorry you dont see things my way.

I really dont care what you think of me. Im not trying to be anything in pool. I love to play, I love to watch, I love to learn. Im not trying to prove myself as a player.

But anyway, Im sorry if I hurt anyones feelings.

-Cleary

This is a start. I'd suggest you take a pool lesson, and keep your day job. :)

Funny you mention that Doug. I give lots of good rep out. I have NEVER given a bad rep to anyone. I came really close with Shawn Armstrong, but I still didn't. But I did for the first time ever this morning to Cleary. For him to bash Accu-Stats AND Grady in the same thread, well, that's tantamount to begging for it. Bill Hemicudes mentioned Cleary's one red dot earlier, but it recently had a baby. So I think maybe some others added to it as well.
It was not fun to give out bad rep, but I think it helps the regular and legitimate posters to better police ourselves. There is a big difference between having and giving differing opinions versus just being plain mean spirited and totally off the wall.

Ive taken several lessons from very good instructors. Its a pretty old photo. But anyway, thanks for the critique of my work. Im glad your artist is better.

Here's something for Cleary...

I happened to pick up an Accu-Stats Statistical Analysis of 9-Ball Pocket Billiards, Volume 1, No. 10. Cleary, you were 3 years old when this came out. ;)

On the cover is a picture of Efren Reyes smiling broadly, believe it or not, with the president of the Sands Regent, Pete Cladianos. He won the event: After a first-round loss, Filipino Efren Reyes won the next 12 matches in a row to snap off the Sands Regent II, $10,000 first prize. Of the 26 .900's in the tournament as a whole, Reyes shot seven of them.

.900's, Cleary, is a measurement of the player's speed in the 9-ball game, a measurement created by Pat Fleming and Accu-Stats.

Continuing: The event was produced by The Great American Tour and The Keystone Cue and Cushion. It was promoter Gene Stary's second and most successful casino event to be hosted by The Sands. The Sands added $20,000 and spread out the $40,700 purse to 24 places. The event drew 69 entrants who paid $300 apiece to participate.

Man, not much has changed as far as payouts and pool-related sponsors. That's a good score for the casino to chip in 25 sand bags.

Continuing: Doug Dlisch, with the assistance of his wife Geri, ably directed the well-organized event. Hank Pericle kept the flow chart in order while JAY HELFERT managed the very capable referees with one assigned to each of the eight Gold Crown III tables.

Hmm, that name in red looks familiar! :p

Here's one of the NUMEROUS tidbits about the tournament presented by Accu-Stats, preserving this tiny bit of American pool history: In the 9-4 victory over Howard Vickery (.878), Efren Reyes (.973) shot the high TPA for a single session. He ran out each of the nine opportunities he had and only missed one combination-bank and one kick.

The only shutout of the tournament was when Efren Reyes (.918) drubbed Danny Medina (.538), 9-0.

Poor Danny Medina. I hate it when that happens! :o

Here's some of the FINAL STANDINGS of the 69 players, provided by Accu-Stats of this event:

1st Efren Reyes (.900), $10,000
2nd Jay Swanson (.855), $6,000
3rd Wade Crane (.835), $4,000
4th Danny Medina (.821), $3,000
5th-6th Mike LeBron (.838) and Howard Vickery (.800), $2,000

Continuing with selected players in the tournament that caught my eye:

9th-12th Danny DiLiberto (.837), $1,100

17th-25th Earl Strickland (.827), Joe Salazar (.818), Ernesto Domiguez (.823), $300

25th-32nd Bill Incardona (.887), Kim Davenport (.830), Keith McCready (.784), $100 :D :D :D

Some more competitors in the event:

Louie Roberts, Cole Dickson, Benny Conway, Ismael Paez, David Howard, Chris McDonald, Terry Bell, Jose Parica, Cecil Tugwell, Dan Louie, Larry Hubbart, Lou Butera, Jr. Harris, Allen Hopkins, Ray Martin, Mike Zimmerman, just to name a few.

Is it me, or were there some tough shooters in this tournament?!

OK I have worked with Francis Ford Coppola, as well as George Lucas' company Lucas Arts and Industrial Light and Magic. You know the guys that do Star Wars. Ive also worked with Disney, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, MGM, HBO, Sony Pictures, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and every frickin majorproduction company in the US. Ive also worked with Doug Trumbull the guy who started all this special effects stuff starting with Stanley Kubrick's 2001 Space Oddysey. Ive also worked in China and Japan for major film production companies.
You schmuck you make me embarrassed for being in New York where I live and work as well part of the year. I will be flying there to see the Yanks take on the Red Sox next week.
I bow down to Pat Fleming. He has taken it upon himself with his own money to produce material that we can take in our own homes and view with pleasure any time. Cause thats what entertainment does for us. It gives us satisfaction with our rough daily struggles. This is what Accustats does for me. It makes me live my dreams of watching the top players, particularly Efren, in their profession.
If you dont know how hard this is for one man to organize a production company like this, you dont know production.
Lay off Pat idiot.

A little touchy aren't we. How do you like having your work critiqued? You aren't the best I've ever seen, by a long shot. Only AVERAGE!

No, Im fine. It doesnt bother me that you dont like my work. Only makes me want to make better work. I respect your opinion though... even though I dont know your basis. I dont know what you consider to be good. Some people think Bob Dylan is talentless....I think he is amazing. Its all relative.

You're being very diplomatic there Jay, I could find nothing that impressed me in the slightest on that site. I'd hestitate to even call it average (OK, for a 5th grader perhaps).

Dave, expressing his opinion :p

5th graders are missing out on some damn good money if they can do work like that.

For playing less than two years, I would say Im pretty damn good. But whatever. Im not going to cry myself to sleep. you guys have fun sucking up to Grady, Ive got work to do.

Sucking up to Grady"??? Because so many people vouch for him and his credentials, THAT is sucking up?

For one thing, I can not remember a single time ever when Grady Mathews came on this forum and thanked anybody for sticking up for him or for giving him some praise of some sort. He didn't even come to Freddy's aid when HE was being bashed. BUT, he still has many, many loyal fans who love and respect him. So, how is saying the truth "sucking up"? What is the benefit of doing that? What would it get anyone? He never acknowledges people coming to his defence, so why would anybody "suck up" to him?
The truth is, you have a core here who will always protect our most valuable members, of which "The Professor" is one in good standing.

The same for Accu-Stats. They have been defended a gazillion times here and we don't get free tapes or DVDs for vouching for them. It's just the right thing to do when someone or something that we know is so valued and is under attack. Trying to discredit someone or something that is so established as a good person or thing for pool will proably result in a lot of negative feedback. It's not meant to be a personal attack on you as much as it is a defence of that which we love.

I read recently where Rodney Morris is now the president, with Frank Alvarez being the player representative.QUOTE]

someone may have already mentioned this, but i could not seem to get past page 6 of this thread - the nastinest of this whole thing is terrible. the fact is everyone seems to have opinions on how things SHOULD be, but noone is doing anything to MAKE IT HAPPEN. i don't have a dog in this fight, it is just frustrating to see such negativity when if it was devoted elsewhere, it may do something good for the sport. the reason for my post, this information is inaccurate - Rodney is player representative and Frank is president.

a couple of freebies

JAM,

I run a couple of freebies pretty regularly on my computer, Ad Aware Personal and C(rap)Cleaner. CCleaner can be set up to spare some cookies but I just let it rip. A warning if you do that, be sure you know all your passwords because you will have to relogin everywhere. It cleans out all cookies, temporary files, and anything like auto-complete files that trojans commonly monitor. These programs aren't virus protection but they clean up tons of junk and keep my machine running with less hick-ups and a lot faster since all those sneaky little trojans aren't dragging down the machine.

Let me know if you can't find them on the net to download and I'll dig. I don't have them bookmarked but I'm sure I can find them. I'm thinking about upgrading to full time monitoring with CCleaner for twenty bucks, I like it.

First of all, Accustats as a video production company is like a bunch of damn monkeys trying to launch a spaceship. They are a joke. Just horrible, have no idea what they are doing and should find new jobs. They make pool look bad to the whole world on national tv. They kill the sport....rob it of its beauty.

I think Accustats is more of an instructional view of the match for pool enthusiasts.

His Highness just woke up! :p I asked him the name of the movie, and it was "Revenge of the Ninja II," with Chuck Norris!

Keith's character was burning up with fire, and Chuck Norris rescued him! :D Then they carted Keith's character off in an ambulance. The movie was a flop

BTW, unbelievably I have just learned that Keith is, in fact, "a member of the SAG organization," whatever that is. :p

JAM

Screen Actor's Guild, can he vote?

In case anyone is interested in Cleary's work as a motion graphic artist I found this reel http://andrewcleary.com/motion/.
I am not sure what motion graphic art is but it seems to put pictures into motion.
It looks like his work might be pretty good but I don't know how to judge.

It's pretty good. It's an art form perfected by the Japanese to cut-down on production cost.

I believe that my grandmother and my great grandmother (and later in life, my second wife) all belonged to SAG , nothing to do with screen actors, they just SAGGED.

It's terrible that the so called World Straight Pool event in New Jersey didn't use Pat Fleming and Accu-stats. Pat has paid his dues a hundred fold and he has the best commentators, too. And this was right in his backyard in upstate NJ.
I can't bring myself to watch any of it because I know in advance how bad the commentary will be and I'm still very upset that for the second year in a row no invite for ol Grad'. In my view, it's the worst thing that could happen to pool to have Charlie Williams and the UPA gain in power and influence.

Grady,

With all due respect to you, your knowledge of various games and teachings, the biggest reason (my thoughts) you were not invited was because of your unsuccessful runs at winning tournaments (when was the last time you ever won a tournament?), your criticisiums of various tours and tournament formats and persons who try to start or run a tour or tournaments over the last decade or longer. Most threads you post your just tearing down someone or something if "Grady Mathews" is not invited or apart of it. Men's professional pool is the most up and down profession when trying to create a consistent tour. There are only 6 consistents in pool today- 1 Viking tour 2. Joss Tour 3. DCC 4. US 9-ball Open 5. Mosconi cup and 6. the World 9-ball Championships. (no particular order). Every event inbetween last one or two years then goes down for the count or becomes something else. Womens professional pool has been a consistant success. I got a little off track, but I wanted to give a little overall perspective on mens professional pool. So if someone wants to have an event it has to have the most successful pool players current and from the past with name and championship reconition associated with the event to attract other players as well as fans of the game. And intodays sensitive market do you really see yourself fitting in? Grady, I think you do fit in. However, not to the extent you think you should be. An example would be Sigel, Rempe, Varner and Archer with all of there tournament success and name reconition compared to yours. Who would you choose. Like I said nothing personal and no disrespect. Good luck next year. I enjoyed your time commentation on Accu stats with Billy Incardona. I thought it was the best.

Since you include the World Championship as one of the 6 successful tours/tournaments, I guess we can include the Eurotour as successful too. (You are not only listing American tournaemnts) It has had more than 90 tournaments during the last 10-15 years, and still improving for each tournament!

The Eurotour is probably the toughest 9-ball tour in the world.
