Earl calling out Joe Rogan

Some thgings have comeup andpossibly no PPV just a free stream forthe fans. Thanks to TAR and CSI. We shall see as things progress
Mark:

If this match takes place I will donate a cue for you guys to raffle or sell to be added to the winners charity of choice! I think that this would be great for pool worlld and fans of Joe's!

Playing for charity completely changes the dynamics of the situation. Earl's antics can now easily be dismissed, as anyone who plays for a good charitable cause can get away with anything short of murder. Banter, bicker, break cues...it will all just be good fun if done for a charitable cause.

TAR. This one is on you. Make it happen. :)

Nathan, a portion will go to a good cause some of the money will go to the winner.

Of course. And a portion should also go to TAR. Those boys work hard for seldom much in return.

My point was that Earls antics are not a good image for pool. Since Joe is mainstream, a lot of non-pool playing people would see this match. I'd hate to have Earl's image be misunderstood as common in our sport. I personally love the guy, but not many agree with me. The charity factors could easily allow people to forgive (or overlook) Earl's actions, as his contribution to charity implies that he is good at heart, regardless of his antics.

It's amazing how many uninvolved people are telling Mark, Earl and Joe what to do with any monies. Earl's living is from playing pool (not the most lucrative of sports, duh). Who gave anyone here the dictatorship to make absolute statements as to how to distribute funds?

Mark has already said the match will have some $ on the line for the players and some for charity. Let's let them hash out how the distribution goes without making anyone feel like looting, greedy jerks. No one is going to get rich off of this.

Just sayin... (Had to get that off my furry chest)

You are exactly right....Earl needs money. The last few years haven't been too kind to Earl.

Joe....on the other hand:wink:

This is so much fun to think this might possibly happen. Thanks to all. Why don't both Joe & Earl get an appearance fee, so Earl gets paid either way, and the remaining funds go to the winners choice of charity? Of course the charity would be declare before hand and the player given the opportunity to talk about them to get extra pub, like those celebraty charity game shows like Jeapardy and such?

I think some ppv would be good to generate additional revenue to be split between TAR, players and charity. Maybe $15, $5 for each, maybe not Joe if he chooses not to accept any of the "gate" (more for Earl). This would be the most watched ppv pool event ever if Joe gets even some of his following.

I agree that Earl should get some sort of payday, but I'm thinking he would have more fun with this if he gets paid either way. But both will try for their charities.

Again, just a thought. I love this idea - thanks again for taking this to the next level.

Dave

Priceless: A Master Card Moment

The greatest pool player ever;
King of Kool Factor;
60 minuets on green canvas: PRICELESS

IMHO it seems that the AZ Fans and the Joe Rogan Fans could be the stakehorses, along with other high rollers, for this chartable event. Pick your guy and send a $20 contribution (maybe tax deductible?). Have the other high rollers take up the slack.

Let these guys and the production people get compensated for their efforts, they are professionals. The main focus of this match is for the good game. This could be huge.

Hey Dave,
This is a great idea....
Both Guys get an appearence fee, and all the rest of the money goes to charity, except for running costs.
I'm sure this will be considerably less then Joe would make on any other appearence he has done in the past, if he takes it at all.

I'm pretty sure Joe's not doing this to get a winner's share.
Then the question that wasn't answered about %%% to the winner has no factor.
To have a celebrity and a world champion raise money for charity, and bring some light on pool, is a great thing.
Best,
Ken

I just communicated with Joe and he is for sure in for this, the problem we have right now is that Joe is a busy guy and trying to get the date scheduled is a little tricky. I would have liked to see this happen maybe at the start of the U.S Open 10-Ball in Vegas in May. However Joe's wife is due in May. Now thats not to say that this won't happen in may but he is going to look at it and let me know. Until we have a dtate it's hard to begin raising $$ fortheis and making plans with TAR who are also on board to help us. Justa quick FYI for you all.
Mark,

The PGA Tour raises a significant amount of money for charity, and we all know those players aren't working for free.

That said though, I don't think anyone is trying to take food out of Earl's mouth or begrudge him making a living. I think that the reason that it has been suggested for all the money to go to charity is simply so that the match will be the kind everyone seems to hope it to be - with all the woofing, barking, sharking moves, one-liners and trash talk. You know, a fun, entertaining event. If there is serious money involved for the players to win or lose, I don't think there will be much of that, nor am I sure there should be.

BTW, what on earth is making people think there will be this HUGE audience from outside of pool watching this thing on PPV? Seriously, aside from maybe a few rabid Rogan fans, who exactly will pay to watch this besides some of us? Who besides us will even know about this?

Justin a tTAR said he could mic the players up too as long as we can do it around everyones schedule.

I think those are some of the exact reasons why Mark decided that it will be a FREE STREAM and a very good choice IMO.

If Joe and Earl are in for this so are we. We'll figure something out. May would be perfect but if it doesn't work out that way then I am sure we can all figure out something that works for everyone.

We have wireless mics. If we didnt we would buy them for this match.

Let's make it happen Cap'n.

Hey all Earl would like to play a challenge match gainst Joe Rogan for whatever he wants to play for. Earl said that since he is good at impressions maybe he can do and impressionon of a pool player. Where are you Joe? I seen you put something up here just recently so lets have it what u want to play where and for how much. Lets have some fun and put it up on youtube tar can do the PPV. Let me know :) I expect to hear crickets

This is so stupid. Earl needs thicker skin. If this is true, it's so typical of good pool players. They're like bullies: "say something about me?, put up some money and let's play." No class if you ask me.

I'm sorry if you have been offended.

"Huge" is a relative term (just ask my wife :)). This has the potential to be the largest ppv pool event to date. Why? Joe's fan base is pretty big so hopefully this will be sent to them all - If this is done right where they can see the background of why it's taking place: a link to a clip of Earl being Earl, and the link to Joe being Earl, and description of what this event would be like along with an explaination, and with the promise of both Earl & Joe being Earl...

I believe there will be a pretty nice percentage of Joe's fans that will tune in. They get to be entertained and get introduced to world class pool. Sounds good to me.

I actually dont think the PPV or DVD sales will be overly popular. No one outside the pool world will care. However once thrown up on Youtube, it will get a zillion hits, as searches for joe's stand up comedy are likely fairly popular.

Absolute statements? I could have sworn they were called 'suggestions'. When something is being discussed, such things tend to be brought up.

Suggesting that TAR also get paid for their hard work should hardly be considered "a dictatorship".

(also, 'just saying' :p)
