Earl's new cue

Allot of woofin' too bad we don't have audio attached to these threads.
Ran across a pair of Mizerak Balabuskas years ago they were 61-62'' long. Players with swings like Earl and Steve have the ability to play better and do more with a longer cuestick. Being 6'6'' I've always had a big advantage of getting in closer on shape to balls down table in rotation games, also feel my long arms give me allot more to work with when it comes to swing. It almost feels like Earl with his new cue now has arms as long as I do, Mike, what length is Earls break cue?

same length and weight.

You are starting to talk out both sides of your mouth and with every post you add more rules.

Here is what we know so far:
Only play at one pool hall
Only play on a 5' x 10' table
6" break box
10 Ball doesn't count out of turn
All shots have to be called
40 second shot clock
Referee has to rack the balls
Referee calls the fouls
I am sure more would be added....

How about these rules:
No elbow pads
No pool gloves
No weights, ass or otherwise
No pool cue greater than 59"
No talking to the crowd or to the other player

The bottom line is if you truly believe that Earl is playing the six ball better than he was in his prime you wouldn't have all of these stupid rules and you would just play.

I think this is the best post of 2010! LOL One day, I'll convince you to back me!

With the interest in the 63 inch, 23 ounce cue and the upcoming match, does anyone know the specs for SVB's cue?

is there a date for this match up? and if someone knows is it before or after the derby city? thanks

Mornin' it's 2011

(ga la see), Gulyassy, I would appreciate the effort. Thanks you.
Now I see that most of these readers do not understand Earl's cue. It is a standard 58 inch cue with an extension screwed into it that makes it from a 17 to a 23 ounce and 58 to a 63 inch. I am getting responses that indicate this. Earl took out the rubber bumper screwed in the extension and then proceeded to annihilate all the best players at the Mizerak tournament. He really like this cue and to date I do not make any 63 inch cues. I can make extensions that will make my cues as long as needed.

Good clarification, I was under the assumption as well that it was just made to be a 63 inch cue.

That throws the balance point of the cue way back. Unless you made the cue to be 63", the balance would be unplayable unless you were Earl Strickland. Why not just make a bigger cue?

I do not believe that 2, 31 1/2 inch pieces would deliver what Earl's cue does for him. It has gelled with his game. I think that his 2 foot follow through has been enhanced by the feel of the length and the weight has given him more energy transfer to move the cue ball easier. The further I follow through, the more inaccurate I become with my aiming.

Mike,
I just want to clarify something. Everyone know that Earl has a very long follow through and I am not picking nits but was Earl's follow through approximately 2 feet BEFORE using the 63 inch cue?

If Earl's 2 foot follow through has been enhanced, you are NOT saying that he is following through LONGER than 2 feet, CORRECT?

I can see how some additional weight might and mass might help to move the cue ball more easily.

Earl is one of the GREAT innovators in our sport. SOME people laugh at his inventions but it is people like Earl who ELEVATE our sport. Other sports constantly are trying to develop a better racket, a better ball, a better club, better training tools etc. Why should our sport be any different?

I'm glad you are in Earl's corner and helping him to find the Magic Mace for him.

Shane is one of my favorite players as is Earl. Shane is the young, popular lion and Earl is the senior King of the Jungle.

Is it possible for Earl to foil the odds makers? Only time and opportunity will tell.

Joey,
Earl had the same follow through before the added length and weight. The cue so far has favored Earl's game. I agree that to keep pool around for years to come we cannot let it stagnate. Lets shake it up, lets do something that might make a difference.

Donny really wants the nuts!

Ken

I like the match with Donny and Earl on the 10 foot with the same no luck rules. I just can't figure out the line. I have a list with open dates to play Earl. Win or loose to Shane the next match can be scheduled right now. We have an open invitation to the world to come and play the same rules and game anytime for minimum on $10,000.00. 864-458-7662 ask for Mike.

Mike, I like what you're doing with Earl, it's only fitting for a WORLD CLASS player that he is. I watch him play often and I know he's up to the challenge.

You know what, I just want to watch some pool. I grew up when you could go to any town and play everyone that played for money and make a great living. There was always a great match to watch, no matter where you were. It all seems to have changed to something else. I just want to see something like the old days one more time. What could be better than the worlds best players seeing who really is the best.

I just gave Earl another new cue for the DCC. It is a Tulip Wood, stainless steel joint, black Buffalo Wrap, 17 oz., with a 5 oz. Ebony extension to make it 63 inches and 23 ounces. He will have this at DCC and I don't know if he will be breaking or shooting with this cue.
