has anyone heard about a $$$ match JL vs. VV?

It is fairly well known among serious fans that JL has had 8 major back surgeries to help correct her congenital scoliosis (she is the national spokesperson for the National Scoliosis Foundation, and has raised a LOT of money for the foundation, as well as mentors many young girls suffering through the condition). I believe these surgeries (including 3 major ones since 2004) have included metal rods/plates/screws placed in 3 stages from skull to tail bone, then all removed in 3 stages, then one segment replaced, and then re-adjusted). On a good day the pain is average, many days are agonizing.
To me, she is one of the competitors I most admire in all of sport. Most patients with even one back surgery (and most are not as bad as the very involved ones that scoliosis patients must undergo) are disabled, and almost all patients with 2 back surgeries are disabled. For her to continue to compete under such conditions (the result has been continuous pain when playing pool) is almost unbelieveable - a testament to her love for the game. In practice she can rest the back when it needs it (though practice is still quite challenging for her); in competition she can't. I have not once heard her use her back as an excuse for poor performances though it has been a factor in every match she has played the last 16 years and has severely limited the amount of time she can practice; I would be blubbering like a baby if I had to contend with that level of discomfort.
Racking the balls is incredibly challenging for her; and in a long match impossible. In long gambling matches against men she does indeed ask for a designated breaker to at least break half of her games, as the breaking is very painful for her also.
This is the reason I always feel comfortable in saying to whomever posts on this forum (and the forum DOES include many true pool fanatics.....like me....), "she definitely loves the game more than you do."

I wouldnt count VV out just yet guys. For the cheese she can shoot. Ive always seen jeanette as a better tourney player and VV as a better money player. Itll be good to finally put this theory to the test.
Why can I rest assured? I asked because gambling and willie aren't two things you hear together often, and surely not for at least 1k.

AZBilliards is making every attempt to stream this match. We have a sponsor to cover our expenses and there is the possibility that Fast Lenny will come as well and then we could (I think, not sure of tech stuff) stream this both to AZBTV and OnTheRail as well as archive it.

I've never heard of VV gambling so it will be interesting to watch. It's unfortunate that she doesn't show well under ESPN's lights...she keeps making it to the TV rounds and struggling. Hopefully a streamed event bodes well for her.

Interesting, EVERYBODY thinks JL is going to win! And I mean EVERYBODY! Can I get 2-1 on the money and take VV. I'll put up $250 to your $500. I'm sure I have the worst of it too.

She is Mexican and you know how tough the mexican pool players are, I do think she has a chance, but she's an underdog...I'm thinking 3.5:2 odds will make me bite on something...someone bet $350 to my $200 and they can have JL....Anyone???

I've seen them both gamble and Jeanette is far superior. Jeanette goes into another gear when gambling, Vivian doesn't. Also Vivian doesn't play nearly as intelligently as Jeanette does. It's like she's not even thinking most of the time and it gets her into trouble. Jeanette on the other hand is a cold killer for the cash, I would rate her gambling game a ball or a ball and half higher than her tournament game.
