How long have you been playing with your cue?

This is interesting questions...I wonder with all the cues that available in the market now...how often are playing changing cues if at all? Are you still finding your holy grail of cue?

I have been playing with my Joel Weinstock for well over 5 years now and it's one the best playing cue that I have had and will probably ever find. There are other cues that I would said hit as good but I would have to play with in for another 5 years plus to compare. I also have sentimental values with the cues as it has taken down some monster players in tournaments. That longest that I heard and know of to date is Gerry Watson who been playing with his Meucci cue faithly now for well over 30 years.

16 months. It's my first "real" cue, a low end mcdermott g-core.

I like it a lot. No plans to change any time soon.

Love my cue!!

I've been playing with my Jim Griffin Cue "Norwella" since 2008. That's 4 years almost exactly. When I first got my cue I was playing with an OB-1 Shaft. I've switched shafts twice, going on to the OB-2 1 year after, and then the OB-Classic 1 year after that.

I don't see myself changing in the foreseeable future!

Hope this helps :)

Sincerely,

Raymond Linares

I've owned my first bought cue ($75) since 1965. It doesn't even have a name on it.

When I started playing again recently I figured I could splurge and bought a new McDermott which I really like

I've been playing with my cue for 3 days now. I just picked up a custom Jacoby cue. I really like the hit of it. I've bought and sold over 15 cues in the past 4 years. I get tired of cues rather quickly. One thing that all the cues I had in common were that they all had a Predator 314~2 shaft.

About 18 - 19 years...

Using a Schon made in the 80's...no idea what model. Never bothered looking it up. 4 black points on maybe a birdseye maple forearm stained light brown. Was a gift from a guy who I did a favor for. Story goes he had won it from Eddie Carver. Last time I saw Eddie he said, "I see you're still playing with my stick." Every stick can tell a story I bet! :)

Added a OB-1 shaft a couple of years ago.

12 years . Bought a Predator 99-6 back in 2000 as a Bday gift to myself. Purchase a new shaft every 2-3 years though.

McDermott D-19 for over 25 years! Layed off playing much for about a decade. Recently bought a low cost Fury just to have as a back-up and cue to throw in the trunk. Actually hits well, but the wood to wood joint of the Mickey D just feels good!

Current cue about 4 months. The cue before that I played for 2 1/2 years. The cue I am playing with now was a culmination of all the cues I've owned (learned things I like and don't like along the way). It was made by a friend of mine who is a cuemaker. He pretty much nailed what I wanted. I gave him very specific weight, tip size, handle diameter, etc.

I can't say it is what I will play with forever, but for the moment it was exactly what I wanted.

Been playing with my Josey for just shy of 2 years now...and I don't anticipate putting her down anytime soon!!!

I play with all of my cues though some more than others. In the last year I've played most with my Mike Bender, Jeff Prather, Richard Black and Greg Pierce cues. On occasion I will take out my Jim Buss, Ray Schuler and old Viking. There's a few other cues in the closet but I don't remember what all I have in there right now. Some of my cues i've had for over 20 years.

I've been playing with my SouthWest for 12 years now. People offer to buy it all the time and I just laugh to myself. I would never even consider parting with it.

palmer cue. the second cue i have owned, almost 25 yrs.
first cue was a rich cue, i bought for 50$ with the stipulation if the guy ever wanted it back i would sell for the same money. he called me on it after ten yrs.

Murray Tucker conversion - I have had this cue for about 3 months. Many cues have gone through my hands in the last 4-5 years. I never had a cue with a dirty shaft. This one does now. It actually feels weightless when I play. I use it to break and jump too. It's a monster on the table and all business. Stainless steel joint with black phenolic collars. Bocote into straight grain maple. LBM ferrules and pressed triangles.

I've been playing with the same schon for over 20 years, both original shafts still have the original micarta ferrules....pretty amazing considering the amount of play I've put on the cue.

This cue and I will never part and I have no desire to play with anything else.

that's too much like getting married

i switch cues every 2-3 weeks. doesn't make much difference. it doesn't take much to adapt either. i do it because every cue has a different personality, and they each do something well.

i've yet to find a cue that does everything well. don't think that's possible.
